Megachurch leader and author T.D. Jakes says that homosexuals should attend congregations that affirm their lifestyle and that politics do not need to reflect biblical ethics, adding that his position on homosexuality is both evolved and evolving.
During an interview with the Huffington Post on Monday, Jakes was asked by a viewer if he believes that homosexuals and the black church can co-exist.
Absolutely I think it is going to be diverse from church to church. Every church has a different opinion on the issue and every gay person is different, he replied. And I think that to speak that the churchthe black church, the white church or any kind of church you wanna call itare all the same, is totally not true.
Jakes said that he thinks homosexuals should find congregations that affirm their lifestyle.
"LGBTs of different types and sorts have to find a place of worship that reflects what your views are and what you believe like anyone else, he outlined.
The church should have the right to have its own convictions and values; if you dont like those convictions and values [and] you totally disagree with it, dont try to change my house, move into your own and find somebody who gets what you get about faith, Jakes added.
He said that the issue of homosexuality is complex.
Paul spends a lot of time wrestling back and forth, trying to understand should a woman wear a head covering, should you cut your hair, Jakes stated. I mean, they grappled back then and were grappling now because were humans and we are flawed and were not God.
Once you understand youre not God, you leave yourself an out clause to grow, he said.
When asked if his position on homosexuality has evolved, Jakes agreed that it has.
Evolved and evolving, he replied. I think that where I am is to better understand we, the church, bought into the myth that this is a Christian nation.
Earlier this year, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that states must legalize same-sex marriage, igniting a battle between the Church and State over the issue. In his comments on Monday, Jakes advocated for the separation of Church and State, which would allow for all types of people to have whatever rights they desire despite biblical prohibitions. He said that politics dont need to be based on Christianity.
[O]nce you get past [thinking America is a Christian nation] Once you begin to understand that democracythat a republic actuallyis designed to be an overarching system to protect our unique nuances, then we no longer look for public policy to reflect biblical ethics, Jakes explained.
If we can divideor what you would call separation of Church and Statethen we can dwell together more effectively because atheists, agnostics, Jews, all types of people, Muslims, pay into the government. The government then cannot reflect one particular view over another just because were the dominant group of religious people in [this] country because those numbers are changing every day, he asserted. We need a neutralized government that protects our right to disagree with one another and agree with one another.
Jakes had visited the Huffington Post to discuss his new book on destiny. The interview focused on motivational subject matter in following ones dreams and passions as opposed to the eternal destiny of the soul.
>>Surprising.
Not really. State-establishments have a long and repeated Biblical history of Homo/Eunuch infestation.
He is in it for the money.
Say what you want, but a lot of the “mega pastors” have quite the bank account.
My guess is he has found a way to cash in on the gay agenda too. He’s good at cashing in.
Anyone that would attend or fund this clown show is an idiot.
So, is Jakes saying that when you defy God's word, you're "growing?"
Wolf! Wolf! Wolf!
The world has truly turned upside down.
The Black “Church,” ladies and gentlemen.
And Mr. Jakes will say “Did I not do all these things in Your Name?”
And Almighty God will say, “I never knew you; depart from me!”
The issue is ‘complex’.
translation..
I be making good money, why I gonna go upset the wedding cake?
False prophets and propheteers..
Fleecing the flock since Baal was the rage..
and seems to be again.
Second: This guy is a well know heretic to begin with, for starters he is a modalist. He will claim that he is no longer one, but it is clear enough in his house of worship's statement of faith.

So, I wonder if Jakes has been playing around with the choir director?
He looks to me to be all about money.
No, the false church. What’s black got to do with it?
**Among other issues, he’s a modalist...**
Jesus Christ wasn’t a trinitarian, for he didn’t teach it.
Read the scriptures, and find Jesus Christ, or the apostles and writers of the NT, using the phrase God the Son or God the Holy Spirit (Ghost). They dont.
God the Father is IN Christ, and Christ is IN God the Father. God the Father is NOT another image, but a Spirit, and invisible. The image of the Son is the image of the invisible God. Its HOW God displayed HIS attributes to mankind on THEIR level.
Everything divine flows from the Father. He has placed all authority and power in his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things. The Son INHERRITTED it all, including his name. You cant inherit something youve always and forever had. The separate and distinct, co-equal, co-eternal three persons trinity is part of the Roman system. Its that simple.
I dont know Jakes heart. Id never heard of the man until maybe a ten years ago. I DO KNOW that ministers go astray; for Paul warned the Christian men that came from Ephesus (to hear him for the last time) that even from among their ranks would false teachers arise, teaching heresies, and leading followers away from the truth.
You like John 14:6; that’s great. It comes from the same passage where he explains where his power comes from. Just read on through, say, verse 11.
**Jakes is a Oneness Pentecostal —> modalist non-trinitarian.**
Those rebels, Jesus Christ and the apostles, weren’t rrinitarians either. They NEVER, EVER, (according to the scriptures) used the phrases “God the Son” or “God the Holy Ghost”.
As far as Mr. Jakes........I know not the man. He may have started out well, became lifted up with pride, and has chosen the wide way.
I could have told you this would happen at least 6 years ago.
Everyone knew that Obama was pro-homosexual. EVERYONE. Even Jakes and all the other racist blacks who voted for him.
Never trust false prophets!
They originated in the rural South and have a Fundamentalist worship style, but apparently the entire Black "church" has sold out to eighteenth century European rationalism and nineteenth century European humanism. And they call that "being authentically African!"
The Black "church" has been a malignant tumor of theological and political liberalism for decades. They should all just join the Ethical Culture Society and stop pretending.
Used to be up there. When some of Dallas’s largest scamsters did spectacular ‘crash and burns’ (Tilton, Grant), he upgraded to a larger market, bringing a large number of female supporters with him.
Oneness pentecostal heretic.
Your ignorance is your problem, not ours.
Jakes has over 30,000 worshipers (particularly popular with women) plus a large television audience.
