That's not the purpose of FR and not the purpose of our Religion forum. Trashing religion is not debate.
Those who cannot live with this are welcome to post elsewhere.
I'm thinking that a lot of that is retaliation for the anti-Catholic threads. I'm thinking that if we all calm down and treat FR as neutral territory, that the back and forth will diminish over time.
God bless you.
Thanks. You do realize though that given how easily certain Catholics have shown themselves offended (as the noble RMs can attest), then now that you have effected this basic ban on daily bashing, then it will make more work for the RMS as certain Catholics will be encouraged to daily call on them even more to remove comments that impugn their elitist church, even if they are reasonable reproofs. But i trust the RMs will continue their overall reason-able judicious enforcement. Hard job.
Yeah, I know. LOL.
Also, she says, “Better to believe the Bible than what some man says.”
The Bible “IS” what several men have so said.
LOL@Joe!

True, and many appearances and references to the work He was doing at the time. The Son is in the OT and not just as the Promise.
Well, then. Since it's "getting personal" time, I'll agree with you. Posts remain "forever".
But not always visibly so.
Such as even some of your own comments, fairly recently (in the last few months), which ended up deleted.
On an extended note, I won't name who, but there is one [Roman] Catholic who I have witnessed ---applauded many comments --- which were then deleted by the moderator (for being too personal of nature, rather than be of the subject matter of the thread and discussion itself).
I thought to make a collection of them, and keep track of them, but of what use they could be (without getting personal) I couldn't quite figure.
There didn't appear to me to be any hope for salvation of it, as Smokey Backroom thread either. Though I suppose I could have made a comedy thread out of it, and labeled it "whiner's caucus".
Still, there would not have been enough redeeming value, so I let it all slide, along with the rest of the (some of it bad) water under the bridge...
Not according to some FR evangelical types, Catholics are not Christians. Seen that statement quite a few times. Do not follow or read religion threads, but I most certainly have read that in passing.
May not be bashing, but it certainly contributes to the rancor, same as claiming that to be a true conservative you must be evangelical.
I think all of us, Catholic/Prot/Jewish, need to work at making it successful. I suspect that if we applied simple, real politeness in our responses, even to those with whom we disagree, that the effect would be one of helpful debate rather than 'abuse and ridicule'; i.e., bashing.
I think it is true that there comes a time, though, when dealing with an obvious troll, that we need to be direct, clear, and hard as flint.
Joshua 5: 13-15
13 Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, Are you for us or for our enemies?
14 Neither, he replied, but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come. Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, What message does my Lord[e] have for his servant?
15 The commander of the Lords army replied, Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy. And Joshua did so.
You must remember that we have been told (by an omniscient RC) that there is not and never has never been a bit of anti-Prot bigotry on FR, while other asserted that Caths do not post threads that incite Prots, though he clearly did so himself.
When one belongs to an elitist church that can autocratically define things, then it tends to filter down.
I believe those references are pointing to where the Catholic salvation requirements exceed what God Himself has revealed in scripture. If there be additional requirements added to what the Bible says, are they not preaching ‘another Gospel’? Gal 1:8
It appears you can't even stop it in the thread where people are being directed to stop it. What's up with that?
That's cool. I'm Catholic and I'm unimpressed with this Pope too. There's a difference between thinking a particular Pope is a bozo, and attacking the concept of the Pope.
Thank you Jim. Let us appeal to the better angels of our nature and be unified in our support for conservatism.
Goodness gracious, I’m honored that you have time to track my posts! But for you, I would have never known about my deleted posts, given that I don’t check back and rarely post on RF threads for reasons Jim made clear today!
