That's not the purpose of FR and not the purpose of our Religion forum. Trashing religion is not debate.

You have not been upfront. I asked in about as many ways as possible for you to define "bashing" and you refuse. Like I said, I'm just a guest, trying to understand your intent and the best you can do is "bash" me.
In all fairness, I may have missed threads you think illustrate the problem. Why is it so difficult for you to state the problem. Is it impossible?
Agreed! We are not each other’s enemies here. We are all American loving conservatives. Let’s all unite more than ever. I plan to make a contribution to FR this week, and hope everyone else can as well!

My statement was a defense of Catholicis. Poster nrx stated this, ‘So yes, I would say that Catholics, and anyone else for that matter, needs to exercise a modicum of restraint when posting threads critical of other peoples’ religious beliefs...’
I defended my faith, as I am adept at doing, thanks to fr, in stating that no practicing Catholic would ever do that.
That is a true statement whether you believe it or not and if you like it or not.
Speaking out against atheism and Islam? What are you baiting other subjects for on this thread in particular?

Back in the day when I first joined I don’t remember religious posts. There may have been some, but probably not very many.
Nowadays it seems that some folks post religious messages on FR every day, presumably in the hope that others will be converted to their particular sect. (I’m separating out the more noxious posts against different religions such as the Catholics and Mormons.) I’m sure those folks are sincere, but I don’t believe in proselytizing for a particular religion to a captive audience. This is kinda like someone standing up at a movie and preaching at me; I wouldn’t be very receptive to it. It has nothing to do with their message, but the location is a place I go to for something else.

Well, it seems our memories are alike.
I said I would donate and I will. Whether many of us continue to donate, and whether we resume posting, will depend in large part on whether this is a flash in the pan or whether it has long lasting effects on the forum. Only time will tell.

I will confess my irritation with what I perceived as free reign by some of the more zealous Anti-Catholic posters on FR was the reason I let my monthly drop.
