That's not the purpose of FR and not the purpose of our Religion forum. Trashing religion is not debate.
Those who cannot live with this are welcome to post elsewhere.
The prior one was doing reform and he’s retired now.
I haven’t either.
but suppose someone posted thread after thread where that and other demonstrably false accusations were made.....would you consider those Baptist bashing?

Have you ever seen such an over top, rules lawyering, emotional reaction to a very simple statement?
LOL....sheesh.
Why did you post that last bit of italics to me? I don’t understand.
I’m glad you’re not hypocritical. I hope we can all come together in comity.
I know, and you’re right.
Jim’s post is clear and concise.
I’m bailing now and hope I’m not pinged.
Can a link to an example be posted please? Not being sarcastic, but would honestly like to know what this looks like. Lifelong Catholic btw. Thanks
Thank you!
Prayers for your health. Are you getting better?
LOL. Good question. I own a Mac Book Pro, IPhone 5, IPhone 6, a tablet and iPod, and I was wondering the same thing. 😂😇😎
Yup. It’s descending into the pit.
Bye. :-)
thanks for making my point.
Prayers for you, dearest sitetest and THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
I’m trying to follow what you are saying but it isn’t quite so cut and dry. Bashing can only exist where there is a principle of fairness based on honesty and an underlying principle of purpose. Daily reports of Islamic atrocities are commonplace here. Is that “bashing” Islam or is there an underlying principle that requires those atrocities be revealed? Someone may find a biblical passage they believe is related to prophecy and a pope - is that “bashing” or scholarship if their analysis is accurate? Is revealing the beliefs of Mormons that contradicts Old or New Testament scripture “bashing” of scholarship?
I wish the rules were cut and dry but it seems to me that if someone makes an opinionated assertion based on selective facts, someone else has the right to dispute that. If this were a Muslim web site claiming to have American principles, would articles about ISIS beheadings and how those are good for America be permitted? This is a wormy issue and worthy of far more thought than given thus far.
God bless you, sitetest!
“Agreed, I am a Catholic, but the Mormon hater that kept posting non-stop made my blood boil.”
Yeah, I remember him too. I think we need to remember that Jim Rob (as far as I can tell) is not trying to shut down honest debate in the religion forum. He is just saying ‘No’ to to a handful of people (one in particular) who were what on Wikipedia we call “Single Purpose Accounts.” Whose sole or primary purpose is posting a near daily diet of attack threads, some of which were just completely over the top.
Catholics don’t have clean hands here either. I have seen some posts from that side that made me cringe. But there were a handful of Protestants who were using FR as a forum for an almost ceaseless barrage of anti-Catholic propaganda. It was getting old and I’m glad that JR has lowered the boom on that.
And for the record, I am an ex-Catholic with some serious but respectful differences with the Roman Church.
You should have told me who was making demonstrably false accusations about Catholicism so i could correct them (as i did even recently) as i have done with RCs making demonstrably false accusations.
can someone say the Eucharist is not the Body of Christ? I disagree with that, but that is not bashing.
Nor would implying they are spiritually dead because they deny the literal understanding of Jn. 6:53, as a poster did today, but that would be considered bashing by RCs if one said they are dead because they trusted that infant baptism resulted in their regeneration.
Like liberals, many RCs (if not you) have shown themselves to most easily offended and the loudest whiners, which as now, has hindered meaningful debate.
I didn't pull it. I just didn't update my info when required to keep my monthly going. I was tired of what I perceived as certain posters being allowed to insult Catholic beliefs on an annoyingly frequent basis.
I simply research what is being said. Other times I just go to my Bible on this iPad. If the Bible does not agree, then I say so. What is wrong with that? Better to believe the Bible than what some man says.
