Who Needs Men in Church? (Catholic Caucus)

Cardinal Burke recently gave a rather controversial interview on the crisis of men in the Church. The lack of men in most Catholic churches in the West is there for all to see; looking at those most involved in parish life—readers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Altar servers—the lack of menfolk is even more striking. The general problem of lapsation and apathy has clearly hit men hard—or, even harder—than it has hit women.

This phenomenon, though undeniable, has attracted very little official attention from Church authorities. Part of the preparation for the 2015 Synod was an embarrassingly amateurish video put out by the Pontifical Council for the Laity seeking input for the Synod’s deliberations.

From men? No, from women. Even as men become an endangered species in our congregations, the focus remains on the experiences of women and how the Church can reach out to them.

Perhaps if the church showed the True Jesus and not some turn the cheek pajama boy...too much to ask.

Bingo. The social gospel church teaches us that we can’t be men because they only teach a feminized Jesus.

a few years ago they started with the female lectors, altar girls, whatever....men didn’t volunteer because there were enough bodies to fill the need. Boys felt intimidated by the altar girls and I think vocations have suffered as a result....they should return to males ASAP.

Don’t you know it. When I suggest that God’s purpose for men is to be rough and tumble and that doing things like learning how to fight is perfectly within a Christian life, their mouths often drop to the floor and they are horrified that would say such things.

I remember when they first started using girl alter boys in my area. I went into raptures.

Did not like it then, do not like it now.

Our church is testosterone-rich. Knights of Columbus are very active, the pews are filled with families, men present. Perhaps it is because it is Discalced Carmelite-led.

Men have wives, mothers, daughters and female co workers and sometimes bosses all of whom are constantly telling them how to act and what to do. They certainly don’t need to be feminized at their place of worship. Get the women out of acting as alter girls. that is a huge problem. Boys are not interested in sharing one more thing with girls. They already have to defer to their feelings and nonsense 24/7 and get their masculinity degraded regularly.

I read recently to giver men tasks to do.

So I have adopted this theory and asked one elderly gentleman to light the candles before daily Mass. He loves it.

We all need to insist on altar boys and then acolytes only.

This is what leads to vocations in the priesthood.

Not having altar boys is one of my pet peeves. Christ chose men for the apostles. The women served behind the scenes.

I willingly, and knowingly actively pray to consign all evil souls to hell.If there is a punishment for that, I am willing to bear it.

And no, you won’t get any kind of magical spiritual shield for being a deluded person who convinces themselves that evil is good, or is something to be tolerated.

But hey, have a nice day!

Always think about this verse:

Galatians 6:28-29.

From my experience men do not usually volunteer for things but are willing (even eager) to do things when asked. I’ve been in KofC for over 25 years and I can count on one hand the number of times that someone asked to join. Most guys are receptive to joining once asked, however.

When the “spirit” of VII was all the rage many predicted that the rush to appoint women to the new ministries created would push men out of the church. Religion becomes a women’s thing and the men stay home. The wife takes care of that stuff. The Protestant denominations that have put women in leadership have seen the same effect. When girls were allowed to be altar boys they soon took over the job almost entirely in many parishes because boys didn’t want to do that any more, any more than they wanted to go to those ballroom dancing classes. Now girls flock to the position while the boys have to be pushed. If women are not church leaders and ministers they will not leave the Church. Women carry the Christianity gene for the race. It has been so since Acts.

Translation:

Women have had in truth have taken on the challenge of leadership in the Christian faith since it was women who first found that Jesus had risen from the dead.

I stopped going to church altogether. It is completely feminized and I have better things to do than listen to some drivel that only appeals to women. From what I have seen recently, men usually only go to avoid an argument with their wife.
