"I feel like saying something that may sound controversial or even heretical. But there is someone who knows that despite our differences we are one. It is he who is persecuting us. It is he that is persecuting Christians today; he who is anointing us with the blood of martyrdom, knows that Christians are disciples of Christ. That we are one, that we are brothers! He doesn't care if they are Evangelicals, Orthodox, Lutherans, Catholics or Apostolic. He doesn't care! They are Christians."

I heard a very calm soft voice telling me that the restored Gospel was true. Could you explain what the 'restored' gospel actually IS?

Reformed Egyptian is next on my study list......now if I could just find somewhere that taught it.......do I need special glasses for the class?

Here is a thought why not start a separate “We hate Mormons thread”?

Catholics and Mormons should be happy with each other....both appeal to a tradition not supported by the Word or early Christianity.
Do you both appeal to John for your appeal to tradition??
To: verga
You can repeat the truth of your faith to them till you are blue in the face and the cows come home and they will just keep repeating their own false witness. Ain't it great when the FR Catholics stick up for the Mormons!!!!
Mormonism is not Christianity. FYI -->
Christian churches teach belief in God as an eternal, self-existent, immortal being, unfettered by corporeal limitations and unchanging in both character and nature. In recent years, several Christian denominations have made studies of Mormon teaching and come to the conclusion that there are irreconcilable differences between LDS doctrine and Christian beliefs based on the Bible.
Some Mormons undoubtedly become Christians, and evidently leave the Mormon sect they were members of behind.
(Thanks to delacort for compiling this list)

When it gets dark; they will leave the fields on their own and come back to their shelter for the night.

Let me start you with some text...
The "Caractors" are the only tangible evidence in existence related to Smith's story.
No gold plates, no brass plates, no peep stones, no Urim and Thummim...
only these "Caractors," not a single one of which is in the purported languages.
Smith's translation of the Caractors. According to Martin Harris (Joseph Smith - History, 1:64), "I went to the city of New York, and presented the characters which had been translated, with the translation thereof, to Professor Charles Anthon, a gentleman celebrated for his literary attainments. Professor Anthon stated that the translation was correct, more so than any he had before seen translated from the Egyptian. I then showed him those which were not yet translated,* and he said they were Egyptian, Chaldaic, Assyriac, and Arabic; and he said they were true characters."
Speak right up now in all truthfulness. Isn't it revealing how Smith started out making a stab at creating believable "caractors" but quckly gave up and produced nothing but squiggles, ending up wih a series of nothing more than crude little scribbles? Yet Professor Anthon supposedly translated them!
*Harris must have had two or three pieces of paper with himone with characters and a translation of them (on the same paper or a separate one) and one with untranslated charactersquite likely the "Caractors." Some Mormon "scholars" have gone out on a limb, sawed it off, and knocked themselves out trying to translate from these true Egyptian, Chaldaic, Assyriac, and Arabic characters a segment that would correspond with a verse from 1 Nephi.
Modern-day experts in Egyptian, Chaldaic, Assyriac, and Arabic. In 1829, any knowledge of these languages possessed by U.S. scholars would have been rudimentary at best. Expertise in them has vastly improved since then. So go ahead, do it. Get any modern expert in these languages to identify which of these "Caractors" are Egyptian, Chaldaic, Assyriac and Arabic. Better still, accept the claim of Mormon apologists that Anthon did indeed so testify and that his appraisal of the Caractors was correct. (Op. cit, pp. 73-75)
Save your money! Samples of Assyriac/Aramaic and Arabic writing:
What say you? Which of Smith's "Caractors" resemble the Assyriac and Arabic ones? No need to pay experts for their analysis. A child could accurately check this out. These writing systems have remained constant for well over 3000 years.

But we do not hate mormons.
We are trying to show mormons the Word of God, just as we are trying to do the same with Catholics, but both almost completely reject it.

Wow great personal attack there. I wonder if you will get the “Discuss the issues all you want...” comment, or if the Mod will just pull your post.

I never told the mormon apologist what “he believes”, I posted simple truths and plain facts. Facts that clearly contradicted his false assertions.
I sense a pretty large and petty chip on one’s shoulder.

I disagree with deleting post 974
It was clearly defining the tactics,(not the person,) being used by the other poster in projecting ad hominems.
So I can be accused of hating, bigotry and anti-mormonism by posting verifiable facts, but thin skinned, petulant posters can get away with using 3rd person slander?
They have not engaged in “discussing the issues” but engaged in the very actions I described in post 974.

Because WE do not hate Mormons. By God's love in us we are present warning the lost to awaken to The Truth, that God offers Grace in Christ, not in the works of the flesh of any man, IN CHRSIT. That whosoever will believe on Him shall be hid with Christ unto that day of redemption. We bring the message that salvation is now, this day, to whomsoever will come in. Salvation is not something to be gained then dropped like a loosely held soccer ball, or something to be striven for so that after all that you can do you might receive His Grace. Salvation is something that comes immediately, as testified by God's Spirit at Pentecost and in the house of Cornelius. That, dear Verga, is The Good News.
I have asked Catholics to tell me what is the Gospel, what is the good news. They often post lengthy blue text lifted in drag and paste from the Catholic Bible (Douay-Rheims Bible I presume), but they do not tell me The Good News, for I am left to conclude they do not yet know it in their hearts because they have some weight preventing them from believing then, in the here and now, not encumbered by the institutional requirements dictated by men enthroning their power not God's Salvation.

If you can't stand the heat, dude, find another calling.
You give yourself far too much credit....really.
I note you didn't address the comments by the other church "leaders" and their claims that the mormon god had sex with Mary to conceive...
None of them made that claim. You're projecting your desired outcome onto their statements. If an LDS leader thought God had sex with Mary, they would have said it straight up.
I have a question, totally off the subject (so don't bother crying about misdirection); are there three degrees of glory?
