"I feel like saying something that may sound controversial or even heretical. But there is someone who knows that despite our differences we are one. It is he who is persecuting us. It is he that is persecuting Christians today; he who is anointing us with the blood of martyrdom, knows that Christians are disciples of Christ. That we are one, that we are brothers! He doesn't care if they are Evangelicals, Orthodox, Lutherans, Catholics or Apostolic. He doesn't care! They are Christians."
You don’t really have to sell me on the enduring Church. I do know all that, and appreciate your brushing up on the Basic Threats 101, from which you are coming.
My point was that the direction of the Western Church is still, not okay.
This should be a new thread...
However, Romans 5:10 does note we are enemies of God prior to being reconciled to Him. There is no age limit on this.
We do not start out clean. That may be in the Doctrines and Covenants but it's not in the Word.
For all of our catholic friends out there, this is why Christians discount your tradition....it opens up the door to anyone else's books.
>>celebrating our messiah as an Anglican.
Does that mean you have a gay priest?<<
Don’t be a dumb @$$
Oops...sorry, take that back. lol
Engagements and wedding banns used to be posted in newspapers, church bulletins, and within and outside the church. There was a waiting period so anyone who objected could speak up. They even built that part into the ceremony.
Conclusion: Yes, Virginia, there are impediments to marriage that may not be evident at the time. Priests can't read minds, or we wouldn't need auricular Confession. But that's another thread! God bless you!
So what happens if you develop a mental illness later in life and go into depression or get hit by a bus and disfigured?
You’re married. You stay together for better or for worse, on sickness and in health. That is not grounds for annulment. The marriage was valid. If you know someone who received an annulment in that situation, there’s a problem you may not be aware of that the tribunal knows. That’s also confidential info.
Sounds like a system that can easily be manipulated.
The only one to blame when something bad happens is yourself. The CCC gives the blueprint to be the best Christian you can be. If someone does not have the intestinal fortitude to live the faith it’s their own fault. Like I said before being Catholic is not for sissies.
Yeah....we see the bragging about how hard it is to be a catholic.
Yet Jesus said, "28Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. (Matt 11:28-30)
We??
Rome has reached the conclusion that all necessary and important things are NOT contained in scripture.
I am still waiting for a LIST of these and just Why they are so necessary.
I've little garden gnomes that I've been assured will keep elephants out of my corn.
Do you know that they WORK!!!!
If it's so PLAIN; post it.
I kinda like Acts 15...
5 Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses.
6 The apostles and elders met to consider this question. 7 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. 8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9 He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. 10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? 11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.
12 The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them. 13 When they finished, James spoke up. Brothers, he said, listen to me. 14 Simon[a] has described to us how God first intervened to choose a people for his name from the Gentiles. 15 The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written:
16 After this I will return
and rebuild Davids fallen tent.
Its ruins I will rebuild,
and I will restore it,
17 that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord,
even all the Gentiles who bear my name,
says the Lord, who does these things[b]
18 things known from long ago.[c]
19 It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. 20 Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. 21 For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.
The apostles and elders, your brothers,
To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:
Greetings.
24 We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. 25 So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. 28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.
Farewell.
30 So the men were sent off and went down to Antioch, where they gathered the church together and delivered the letter. 31 The people read it and were glad for its encouraging message. 32 Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the believers. 33 After spending some time there, they were sent off by the believers with the blessing of peace to return to those who had sent them. [34] [d] 35 But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord.
It appears that some still are...
We ARE born enemies of God. We all start out DIRTY. If it were not so, God would be a respecter of persons.
Well, well, WELL!

Honestly, the annulment process is really difficult. It’s not so much a matter of property division, which is why a civil divorce is necessary first. This is more about the most intimate details, which must require vernal and written testimony from both parties and from witnesses; canon lawyers, and a tribunal. I know the head of the tribunal in our diocese, and he is one tough customer! It truly is not taken lightly. Irreconcilable differences are not grounds for annulment. A lot of personal, embarrassing, hurtful things go into it, and both parties must participate actively...
