Pope says environmental sinners will face God's judgment for world hunger

Pope Francis has warned “the powerful of the Earth” they will answer to God if they fail to protect the environment to ensure the world can feed its population.

“The planet has enough food for all, but it seems that there is a lack of willingness to share it with everyone,” Francis said at a mass to mark the opening of the general assembly of the Catholic charitable organisation Caritas.

“We must do what we can so that everyone has something to eat, but we must also remind the powerful of the Earth that God will call them to judgment one day and there it will be revealed if they really tried to provide food for Him in every person and if they did what they could to preserve the environment so that it could produce this food.”

The striking comments from the Argentinian pontiff came ahead of the upcoming publication of a papal encyclical on the ethical aspects of environmental issues that is eagerly awaited by campaigners for action to address global warming....

Let’s not forget that the Pope is Argentinean. All the economic knowledge added together in Argentina does not even equal that of Obama.....

Spot on. Many of the famines in the 20th Century are directly influenced by man and his totalitarion dictatorships. Natural famines do occur, but socialism (including the Nazi’s) and communism lead the way by trying to control everything and viewing there citizens as sub-human. We even have one of those man-induced famines in our own county right now: California.

The way to feed and clothe the world is to EXPAND FREEDOM, ENERGY PRODUCTION, and CAPITALISM!

It is the suppression of these 3 which oppresses the poor!

Whoever is telling Pope Francis that the world is running out of God’s resources is LYING TO HIM!

Is he talking about the folks that keep diverting food grains away from food production to be used instead for inefficient and dirtier polluting “biofuel” products? Is he talking about the crony supporting politicians who keep subsidizing this inefficient use of resources that free markets would otherwise not fund?

More C02 and warmer temperatures means longer growing seasons and better conditions for plants to grow which means MORE not less food.

Why don't he hold the governments in the countries that are starving responsible?

Becasue A) his liberal theology agrees with them and B) he understands that the Vatican holds no real power or sway in those countries.

AMEN!! (standing ovation)

The United States of America is the greatest country this planet has ever known because the Founding Fathers saw first hand the overbearing demands of the British government after 1763 (had Parliament listened to the issues brought up by William Pitt the Elder and Younger, we never would have the American Revolution--instead, the United States would have become an independent country by 1800 just like what Canada did in 1867). Maybe Pope Francis needs to read Friedrich Hayek's The Road to Serfdom to find out why Socialism is such a bad idea.

I am Catholic. This Pope does not speak for me.

The reason that some do not have food is not the lack of Christian charity.

This Pope recognized the Fakestinians who attacked the Church of the Nativity.

I thought he was billed as a strong friend of Israel.

He just endorsed PLO and HamAss.

What a disappointment!!!!

Unless he was mistranslated again, how can we take this guy seriously? His ideology isn't christian. His understanding is that of a simpleton. Worse than a simpleton, his understanding is evil.

His defense? It's only his opinion and doesn't matter. But if he ever speak while in the magic chair while wearing the fully hat, he'll be 100% right. In what world does this make sense?

So, in theory, the leader of the whole christian church is a buffoon, but due the highest respect and reverence. No thanks.

His statements are not his opinion when he calls down God's judgment on his own (not God's) personal classification of sinners. I don't care what title/lineage he has, he has no power to bind in this matter. None!

So let me get this straight..if we cripple the global economy with nonsensical environmental regulations which would lead to unending poverty and early death in the third world God will be pleased with us?

The problem is not with Vatican money in investments, which are smaller than many universities. Nor can churches and art be easily liquidated, so that wealth is not the same as cash.

the problem I see here in the Philippines is that many of the liberation theology types in the third world are now green types, opposing the GM food that could stop hunger.

companies indeed pollute, but often they can do so because good catholic politicians are bribed to look the other way. Teach thou shalt not steal and maybe they will figure out how to get local industry without destroying the environment.

You know, what he says only affects you if you let it affect you. I know who is speakign through him and it’s not anyone good, so I choose to ignore it. Probably laugh about it. He’s too deep in the NWO power structure to get out.
