Catholic apologists cannot write any articles explaining what they believe without attacking other groups.

All the posts here lately try to pass off attacks as opportunities to rip into other denominations.

It is sickening.

And on top of it the admins remove posts that mention it when the Catholics realize someone sees what their writers are doing and play the victim.

I would say the greatest of all heresies were, in order, in my humble opinion:

  1. Islam - belief that Jesus was just a man, not God
  2. Docetism-- belief that Jesus Christ's human body was just a mirage, that Mary did not bear 100% man and 100% god, but Jesus was a mirage
  3. Arianism/adoptionism -- the disbelief in the Trinity, pushing Jesus Christ as just a demiurge -- you see this in modern day Jehovah's Witnesses
  4. Belief in a reflection of gods -- Gnosticism/Manichaenism/Mormonism
  5. Unitarianism - again, a rejection of the Trinity

Amen! Many ignore where those who wanted to continue the old ways by doing things like circumcision, etc., to be doing something “worthy” were chastised for “falling from Grace” because they would not accept the gift of His Grace.

It is the good tree that produces good fruit, not the other way round. We are not saved by works; we are saved for works.

We are not saved by believing we are saved. If the view that one who believes is already saved and could never be lost is correct, then there is no downside for the one who believes but also believes he could be lost if he fell away. If, on the contrary, the view that one can never fall from grace is incorrect, then there is tremendous downside to the believer who falsely trusts that he can never fall from grace, and becomes lazy, unfaithful and unwise through the deceitfulness of sin.

Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money. After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Sola scriptura, without a doubt. There’s not one verse anywhere in the Bible in which it is taught, and it therefore becomes a self-refuting doctrine.

Let’s consider sola scriptura from the vantage point of history. If the notion of the absolute sufficiency of Scripture were indeed part of “the faith that was once for all handed on to the saints” (Jude 3), we would expect to find it everywhere taught and practiced in the early Church. We would expect to see the ancient Christian liturgical life dominated and shaped by the rule of sola scriptura. But we don’t see anything of the sort. The fact is, the writings of the Church Fathers and the councils, both regional and ecumenical, reveal that sola scriptura was completely alien to the thought and life of the early Church. Mind you, the early Church placed an exceedingly great emphasis on the importance and authority of Scripture to guide and govern the life
of the Church, and Scripture was employed constantly by the Fathers in their doctrinal treatises and pastoral directives. But Scripture was never regarded (or used) by the Church Fathers as something that stands alone, self-sufficient and entirely independent of Sacred Tradition and the Magisterium.

The greatest heresies:

Arianism

Arianism threatened to crush out orthodoxy

From the various beliefs that came up from 1500s onwards that have some mention of Jesus Christ, I believe the one that most threatens orthodoxy is Arianism and it's revival -- the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Why? Because if you look at all the various beliefs from the 1500s:

All of these pale in comparison to the earlier beliefs that threatened orthodoxy
