What a surprise, they just called me in and said they had eliminated my position, after almost ten years too.
Heavy Sigh...
Oh geez. I’m sorry. Prayers for speedy employment and better opportunities.
Prayers up, of course. This isn’t any fun at all, and I happen to know. Place your faith in God and work hard to be able to recognize it when He drops an opportunity into your lap. That will happen.
Prayer of agreement BUMP.
Happened to me twice. First time was the best thing ever - met my wife that I would have missed if I had been working.
Second time, not so great, but took early retirement.
Both times, it felt like a punch in the gut. Did not see it coming.
What type of work do you do and what big city are you near?
I might be able to help...
-— The Lord has thus far taken very good care of us and I am sure he has plan for us.
Jesus I Trust in Thee. -—
With that trust you’ll do fine. Just take it one day at a time. Each day that goes by is one day closer to your next job.
I’ve been through two layoffs in the Obama years. I’m the primary breadwinner too. We’ve come through OK.
I’ll include you in my morning prayers infool, lots of job related stuff in there every day.
I do totally feel you pain, and I wish you good luck in your search.
Please let FReepers know your approx. geographical location and a little about your skills and experience. FReepers know a lot of people...
Thanks for posting that, I never knew about this saint. but I’ll start praying to him too. As I told infool, my morning prayers are all very job related lately.
Prayers that a new and better paying job comes your way.
Your trust is well placed
Blessings
Prayers from me...very difficult for you.
My husband had the same thing happen to him in January and he is the only breadwinner of our family. Those three weeks were the worst we ever went through. God carried us through it. We got our friends, family and church to pray for us. My husband reached out to 20 job recruiters and applied for a 100 jobs the first week he was off. By the end of the third week, my husband found a job.
Find a good recruiter, one that will look at your resume and help coach you in interviews. That will help but most of all, pray. God is the only one that can lead you through this and point you into the right direction and open up job opportunities.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
I just finished reading Merlin Carother's "Prison to Praise."
Depending on your area(s) of expertise, consider Temp Agencies during the interim.
Depending on your situation, consider whether a move is acceptable. Sometimes you have to go where the jobs are.
I’ve been there, more than once. Stay close to those who love you, have faith that this will pass. We guys have some traits that work against us when this happens; we’re stoical, we keep it inside, and we wonder if it’s our fault. Cut yourself some slack and stay open to your family. If you have earned love, you can draw on the account without shame.
Auto-correct is not always your friend, so let me rephrase that:
There is obviously something more important and rewarding for you to do.
Praise and thank God in all of your circumstances, and you will be blessed.
"Though He slay me, yet I trust Him" (Job 13:15a)
