Good post. The priest’s name is too close to Corleone. He wont submit lol. Might bump some off!
I don’t get what they don’t see. Gay sex leads to some VERY horrifying diseases. And even with HIV treatment, they are now getting dementia in their forties.
Premarital sex gives you an unwarranted sense of love, or lust confused with love. In the young, this Powerful act can lead to confusion and despair when the person you sleep with walks away.
Masturbation is only a venial sin but becomes addictive when porn is involved and then it becomes kind of sad.
Thee are reasons Jesus said what he said. It wasn’t just for kicks.

Just for the record (and for others reading this thread), if masturbation gets to this point, it could be a mortal sin. It's not always venial, regardless. One can check out the criteria for a mortal sin online or better yet, in the confessional! :)

And did you know that pornography is the top sin in the confessional? We had two different priests tell us that through their homilies given at Mass.

Matthew 5:28
"But I say to you, everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

Any sin connected with sex is "grave matter," as the Church teaches, because it damages or even destroys the happiness and purposes of marriage: whether the sin is porn/masturbation, premarital sex, contraception, extramarital sex, or any other sexual offense.

"Grave matter" means "This Is Serious." And if you do it knowingly and with free consent, it's a mortal sin: yes, even masturbation.

Lack of knowledge that "this is serious" or lack of "free consent" would be mitigating factors which would mean the act isn't, in that case, a mortal sin; and lack of free consent might apply when the activity is deeply habitual or addictive. But the damage is still there: an incapacity to really bond with your spouse, an incapacity to be really satisfied with your spouse (because you've habituated yourself to other pleasures), an incapacity to be fruitful.

A lot of people in this society --- not only kids --- show incredulity or contempt toward the idea that sex is serious, and sacred. It is. But as my old Aunt Franzizka used to say, "Vee grow too soon oldt, und too late schmart."
