In an article entitled Saint Patrick the Baptist?, Stephen R. Button tries to claim St. Patrick for Evangelical Protestantism... or at least disassociate him from Roman Catholicism. Button is hardly alone: you can find similar attempts by Don Boys and others, some of them dating back several decades.
The argument tends to work like this. From Patrick, we have (in Button's words) only the “84 short paragraphs that make up both his Confession and his 'Letter to Coroticus.'” Baptist authors then mine these texts for any doctrines that Patrick doesn't mention explicitly, and then claim that he must have held the Baptist view.

I have noticed that. They do not identify wih being a Christian but as being a Catholic. I do not think I have ever seen a Protestant saying a denomination. Shows what is more important to them.
Not just through people in general but specifically through the assembled apostles and presbyters, i.e. through the hierarchical leadership of the church. This is what Acts 15:28 shows.
Context is your friend here. Back up to Acts 15:22.
Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men from among them to send to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren (Acts 15:22 NASB).
The whole Jerusalem church was involved in this decision.
Annulment is the procedure, governed by the Church's canon law, which determines the marriage to be void at its inception (ab initio). A "Declaration of Nullity" is not the dissolution of an existing marriage (as is a dispensation from a marriage ratum sed non consummatum), but rather a determination that consent was never validly exchanged due to a failure to meet the requirements to enter validly into matrimony and thus a marriage never existed.
It's the women he wasn't married to that were the problem.
We're all Americans, but tend to refer to ourselves, at least to some extent, by the land of our heritage. I was born here, and I was taught to love my country, and I do! But if you ask me, I'm Italian! That's because I knew people of Polish, Armenian, Lebanese, Irish, African, Jewish, and Spanish origin.
I'm an Italo-American Catholic Christian of the Roman Rite. The order has nothing to do with some misplaced priority, or lack of love.

It was a try. Started out well. Then came the ones who make a career out of wrecking civilized discussions. I got personal insults even got rude emails from it. When I tried to put the thread bank on track, it didn't work. When I finally had enough and commented on behavior and remarks, I got harassed about that, too. Pretty much the same ones every time, not everybody.
I knew a lot of non-Catholics in my life, and we didn't have a problem. Here, whatever we post, the same ones play "follow the leader" even when we try to find a common ground.

When I was doing genealogy research on my ancestors, I found that 2 families came over on the Mayflower so those families have been here forever. I also have Cherokee heritage so they have been here longer. I am an American—no other names needed. I have a relative who does not want to hear anything about our Indian heritage which I find a little odd. We are a sum of all our ancestors and I am proud of all of them. I do not have any genealogy info here but I have ancestors from England, Ireland, Scotland, Alsace Lorraine, and Russia. I was very surprised to find the Russian connection and from what I read, a Russian Empress. I do not know if I will be able to continue that with my vision problems. Have an appt Friday with my regular eye dr. Would appreciate prayers. My dr told me a couple weeks ago that my eyes were really inflamed. My daughter and I decided that was from all the pollen. : (

I love history so my genealogy research makes it come alive. About 5 years ago, I did research for a friend. In about 4 hours, I found info back to the 1400’s on one of his families. It happens like that when others have posted their data online. if you are interested, just type in your oldest known ancestor, plus dates and location + descendants. Chances are someone has already done the research. Let me know how you do. Let me warn you though. It is addicting!
Thanks. The pollen just adds to my problems. I had surgery on my right eye to repair 2 torn eye muscles in November. Had to have surgery again on both eyes about 3 weeks ago after starting seeing double again. She said I had a lot of scar tissue built up from 1st surgery. I was talking to my brother tonight and told him my poor little 2007 Honda Accord has about 20,450 miles on it. He just laughed and laughed after telling me I do not get out very much. But, seeing double and driving do not mix.

Pursue that Russian connection, and you may find yet another nationality! After Catherine the Great died, her son decided the Empresses would no longer be able to rule as she did. The Emperors/Tsars usually chose a wife from another country: Nicholas II had a Mom from Denmark! Once again, WOW! (I don’t know a lot about history, but I am interested in Czarist Russia, kinda like some people follow Queen Elizabeth and her family).

A few years ago I was researching my maternal grandfather. I got back to the 1700’s and a voice told me to search for info on a female who married into the family back then. I did and discovered she was a descendant of King Clovis the Riparian of Cologne or something like that. He lived in the 400’s. I had that info but did not know any descendants. I feel like I have hit the jackpot when I get back that far or even to the 1400/1500’s. It does not even have to be my family. : )
Another wonderful Internet site is FindAGrave. I have found tombstones of relatives born in the 1700’s-the present. One of the most interesting stories I found on that site was the story of a little girl in AL who wanted a doll house for Christmas. She died before then so her parents built a doll house around her grave.
