I have noticed that. They do not identify wih being a Christian but as being a Catholic. I do not think I have ever seen a Protestant saying a denomination. Shows what is more important to them.

We're all Americans, but tend to refer to ourselves, at least to some extent, by the land of our heritage. I was born here, and I was taught to love my country, and I do! But if you ask me, I'm Italian! That's because I knew people of Polish, Armenian, Lebanese, Irish, African, Jewish, and Spanish origin.

I'm an Italo-American Catholic Christian of the Roman Rite. The order has nothing to do with some misplaced priority, or lack of love.
