LifeWay Christian Resources has stopped selling all "experiential testimonies about heaven" following consideration of a 2014 Southern Baptist Convention resolution on "the sufficiency of Scripture regarding the afterlife."
...
The resolution, adopted by messengers to the SBC annual meeting in June, warned Christians not to allow "the numerous books and movies purporting to explain or describe the afterlife experience" to "become their source and basis for an understanding of the afterlife."

Just ignore it. This is a bit of overstepping.
There is still discernment on the part of the reader. I dont think church leaders should take that away, nor should they claim to have an exclusive on it. We are ALL given the Holy Spirit. ALL.
And I fully agree.
The book store decided to take the books from their store and not buy any more because they agreed.
Since we have the Holy spirit why let it be bogged down from things that if God wanted us to know he would have told us?
I believe we have all had an experience of one kind or another but if every one teaches their own experiences what does that do with what Jesus told us to do which is to preach his gospel (not ours) as a witness?
Like I stated there are some things I believe in that is not taught in the Bible, not plainly any way so I would not even think of teaching it free, much less to get rich from.
I don`t want to find out if hell is real by going there.
I look at these “nde’s” as a way to CONFIRM my faith in the Lord and in the Holy Bible.
Akward moment no? I am sure there was ‘dead’ silence for a few minutes.
It’s a different thing, but it’s not a different thing ENTIRELY. You are right in part. BTW, a bit judgmental of you to think of all of these things as fanciful tales. You might be surprised.
argumentum ad absurdum.
Strong delusion comes to mind:)
She wasn't a prostitute. She was demon possessed.
What makes you say that? I mean, I don’t think you are right, but I’ll keep open mind. Talk to me.
Luke 7:
36 Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisees house, and sat down to eat. 37 And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisees house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, 38 and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. 39 Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.
Here is the reference on Mary Magdalene which is accurate:
Luke 8:
Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, 2 and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmitiesMary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, 3 and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herods steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance.
Those are the facts. Don't worry I too was corrected as well as I was raised Catholic and that lie is still there in some circles. Don't know why Mary Magdalene got a bad rap from some pope.
I’ll have to study on that.....thanks for the info.
I’ll continue to research this, but the words “what manner of woman this is who touches him” certainly indicates sexual promiscuousness....pro or not. But it is not specific.
I love this :)
me too
He was not a Christian ...
This kind of book generally appeals to unsaved church goers .. These are not books the saved seek ...
Scripture isn’t enough.
Makes me think of Matthew 16:4.
But where is it indicated that woman was MM?
The text does not say that nor is there any linkage elsewhere.
Wise move
