For later
All of it............Just curious, does your Catholic church condemn a divorcee who leaves her husband due to his pedophilia?
Sorry, kid. No urine in two days? Cathedra it is.
I was told by a "born again" pastor that there was absolutely no difference. This same man told me that if I were hiding Jews in WWII Europe and Nazis came to the door, lying to the Nazis was just as serious a sin as the Nazis killing the Jews.
This is what happens when every individual interprets Scripture for himself.
I'm not surprised. Fr. Lombardi and Jay Carney have both used that same defense on numerous occasions.
You have access. You’re on the internet.
The Catholic church does not condemn divorce; it condemns remarriage while the original spouse is still alive.
no problem ... I get confused even when I’m on track ... /8^)
“I’m not surprised. Fr. Lombardi and Jay Carney have both used that same defense on numerous occasions.”
Your an idiot, of course you know that... or at least your parents did.
Why would I need a “defense”?
Anybody who claims he’s a Catholic but can’t answer why he can’t recognize the difference between venial and mortal sins needs a defense. And it’s not a defense against me but his God. I will pray for those “idiots” and the parents who raised them.
Breaking ANY of the commandments is a mortal sin.
I thought you were a Catholic, but with the above statement, I was mistaken.
“I thought you were a Catholic, but with the above statement, I was mistaken.”
You are weird. Do you have some funky priest? Apparently you didn’t get the memo.
We were given 10 rules to live by. Only 10... Which ones do you think are not important? Or, do you get to choose? Or do you think Church laws are more important than the commandments?
I’m guessing here, but I have been a Catholic longer than you’ve been alive...
“You dont think murder is a graver sin that a third grader cheating on a math test?”
Did I say anything about murder?
Repentance is a change of heart from our damned destitute ways to God’s narrow path.
And only God can lead us there by putting His Spirit in us to walk in His statutes:
Ezekiel 36
23 I will set apart my great name to be regarded as holy, since it has been profaned in the nations you profaned it among them. The nations will know that I am Adonai, says Adonai Elohim, when, before their eyes, I am set apart through you to be regarded as holy.
24 For I will take you from among the nations,
gather you from all the countries,
and return you to your own soil.
25 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you,
and you will be clean;
I will cleanse you from all your uncleanness
and from all your idols.
26 I will give you a new heart
and put a new spirit inside you;
I will take the stony heart out of your flesh
and give you a heart of flesh.
27 I will put my Spirit inside you
and cause you to live by my laws,
respect my rulings and obey them.

Marriage is sacred and divorce is destroying children and our society.
That said, suppose an atheist converts to become a Catholic. He was divorced and remarried with children in both marriages before his conversion.
What is the Catholic recourse for such a man and his second family? Would he and his second wife be refused communion?
.
Revelation 22:
[14] Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
Yes, indeed! - It appears that the "workers of Iniquity" think that they can rewrite God's word, and out-law his laws!
.
That’s quite ridiculous. There are ample examples in scriptures of those lying to evil authority to protect innocent lives.
Smelling a straw man here.
I think this might be the misunderstanding:
James 2:
10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.(KJV)
Sin in fact is sin. Yes the scriptures tell us what God abhors most: injustice to widows and orphans. God also calls certain sins abominations (homosexuality).
The key term in James 2 is transgressor of the law.
Then the concluding key term from James is “judged by the Law of liberty.”
