Three Words Catholics Do Not Understand
It Is Finished - Three Words Catholics Do Not Understand
The perfect, all-sufficient sacrifice of Christ that satisfied divine justice for all believers was accomplished 2000 years ago. Jesus cried out in victory - "It is finished." The work of salvation is done. The eternal debt for sin has been paid in full. No more offerings, no more sacrifices, no more priests! The Lord Jesus willingly died for mans sins to pay the debt that we could never pay. He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness: by His wounds you have been healed" (1 Peter 2:24). Yet Catholics instead choose to trust in the sacrifice of the Mass, a blasphemous representation of a eucharistic Christ on an altar. They would rather trust the Sacrifice of the Mass as a sin offering to God rather than trusting in the one-time, all-sufficient, sacrifice of Christ.
Jesus appeared to take away sins once for all" by His sacrifice" (Hebrews 9:26). Through His blood God made Him the means of expiation (of sin) for all who believe" (Romans 3:25). Vatican II denies these sacred Scriptures by teaching: Sins must be expiated...on this earth through the sorrows, miseries and trials of this life and, a above all, through death. Otherwise the expiation must be made in the next life through fire and torments or purifying punishments (Vatican Council II). What a terrible deception to impose on faithful Roman Catholics who look to their church for the truth! The very reason and purpose Christ became man and suffered such an excruciating death was to expiate sin, once and for all, by His perfect sacrifice. How can any church, which claims to follow Christ, withhold this truth from its people and create in its place doctrines that nullify the Savior's finished work?
Roman Catholic teachings also nullify another accomplishment of Christ, the purification of sins. The writer of the book of Hebrews declared that "when He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high" (Heb. 1:3). The apostle John also proclaimed that those who trust Christ are purified from all sin, by His blood (1 John 1:7). Vatican Council II states that purgatory is where "those
who have not made satisfaction with adequate penance for their sins and omissions are cleansed after death with punishments designed to purge away their debt. Jesus reconciled the world to God, changing its relationship with God from hostility to harmony. The sinner is reconciled to God when he trusts in Christ as his Savior. "It is in Christ and through His blood that we have been redeemed and our sins are forgiven" (Eph. 1:7). Being reconciled to God is difficult for Catholics to comprehend, for they have been taught the only way to made peace with God is through a life long journey of works--receiving the sacraments, going to Mass and doing penance. The only response to the accomplishments of Christ that will reconcile anyone to God is repentance and faith.

One word Protestants don't understand: ArianismA heresy that arose under those "infallible" church fathers
The solution to the heresy's was not "the church"it was the scriptures .. Many of those early heresies still pop up today in many cults

I'm not dodging anything. I don't think you Really understand what I mean that Jesus Christ is also God.
Lets start. Why did God send a part of Himself as Jesus Christ to earth?

If one were to choose between remaining a Roman Catholic and instead to become only a believer in and follower of Lord Jesus Christ but without a church home, what would one choose?I've chosen the latter, and I and my wife speak to Him every day, along with our friends.
We have no need to "join" any constructed "church" or "religion" to profess our love for Jesus Christ or God. He and His Father are enough for us.

It is “Saved by Grace.” That is it. Believe the Gospel, 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4. Death, Burial and Resurrection. Believe. Simply put, “Faith plus nothing.” Faith. Nothing else. No works. No being a nice guy. No I gave money to this and that. I never cheated on my wife. I paid my taxes. I loved my kids. I voted. I supported my local Church. I was there in the pew every Sunday, never missed a week. I was a deacon. I was a Sunday School teacher. I did ALL that STUFF I was suppose to do. EXCEPT one thing, BELIEVE in the atoning Blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross, when He said, “It is finished.” His work was done. Mission accomplished. No Mary. No rosary beads. No going to the guy in the little booth and asking forgiveness. All done. Finished. We are saved by believing the Gospel that Paul brought to us directly from the Christ. In his three years in Arabia. Christ taught him EVERYTHING He wanted Paul to know and do. To suffer for the Gospel. And Paul suffered. Faith plus nothing. Nothing else needed or required.

Yet we are the Body of Christ and our work is not finished. It could be that another answer is needed.

I've found gathering with like-minded believers in The Lord Jesus Christ helps everyone involved.
Accountability, group singing, worship music, hearing the Scriptures read aloud, corporate prayer, friends, encouragement, partaking in The Lord's Supper, a means to financially help others in Jesus' Name, (it seems pleasing to The Lord when we gather regularly in His Name)...just a few of the many many reasons I recommend not going it alone.

Otherwise the expiation must be made in the next life through fire and torments or purifying punishments (Vatican Council II).
A careful analysis of Catholic Church documents includes specific references to the precise chapter and verse in scripture, but when quoting the Catholic Church merely cites "(Vatican Council II)" as the full footnote. That's like a Bible scolar comparing a phrase in Luke to a phrase in Leviticus, citing chapter and verse for one and for the other saying "(The Old Testament)".
Why am I pointing this out? The writer clearly has excellent knowledge of scripture (though compare Colossians 1:24 "I am now rejoicing in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am completing what is lacking in Christs afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church.") but he set this up against one cherry picked phrase with no context and (wilful?) ignorance of the Catholic concepts of forgiveness, atonement, propitiation and expiation.
I am reasonably certain that if the author of this piece actually understood the context and meaning of the quote he cited he could construct a critique. But just pretending that Catholics don't understand the word expiation isn't that critique.

Only Jesus Christ and your kids can answer that question. I saw a stat last night that 85% of Americans call themselves “Christians.” BUT, ONLY 9% said they had a personal relationship with Him and believed the total Gospel, mainly RESURRECTION. Without Resurrection, there is NO Gospel. As Paul said we are still dead in our sins. NINE percent. That tells you that if the Rapture of the Church happened today, of 320 million Americans, only 32 million would depart, plus all children under the age of knowledge. That’d be few million more, maybe another 25-40 million. So, let’s say, 65 million out of 320 million, gone in a flash. 9% is sad. Totally sad.

The payment for our sins was finished on the cross. The debt was settled. God didn't wipe my slate clean he broke it up, through it in the ocean and put up a no fishing sign.
Romans 3:23-28 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.”
The old account was settled long ago. I walk with Christ and follow his word not out of fear of rejection, but out of love for the one who died for me. I came to him and had my doubts for I knew that what the Bible said was true of me, I was unclean in a world of unclean men and had much to fear at the hands of a Holy God. I took it seriously and worked out my own salvation in fear and trembling; I went to Jesus and I found grace and the perfect love that casteth out all fear. I accepted the free gift and found I was already justified and He promised to never leave or forsake me.
Romans 5:8-9 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
Romans 5:15-19 “But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”
When I accepted Christ he made me clean by his blood, it is finished and I am his child. Nothing I do can change that. It is finished.
Romans 8:14-16 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:”
I John 2:1-2 “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”
That is the work that was finished on the cross.
I John 4:13-18 “Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”
I can be bold on the day of judgment not because of my righteousness, alas I have none; but because of His righteousness, because of the finished work of Christ who died for our sins. It is finished.
On the cross God's son came down and finished the work of the priest in the temple no more would the way to God be through the offering of the lamb in the temple. No longer would the blood from the temple run down from the altar, for Christ had spilled his blood on the cross.
Hebrews 10:9-14 “Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”
It is finished.
