My dear husband fell, fracturing his femur and tearing a rotator cuff in his shoulder. He does not have osteoporosis; it was just a freaky accident.
He is a big man -- not fat, just big -- and he landed on his hip and his elbow on a neighbor's blacktop driveway. As is so typical of him, he was there to help the neighbor with a task.
He is in very good health -- but not too graceful -- so I am confident that he will heal, but, right now he is in a great deal of pain in the leg and from swelling in the arm. He was able to use the arm right after the fall, but now he cannot.
Also, he is feeling quite glum about the fact that he will not be in full working order for several weeks. We are retired, so, fortunately, he is not missing paid work, but he is always very busy around the house and in our rather large yard. It is bothering him for me to need to take up the slack. Besides, sitting for too long gives him the heebie-jeebies.
I ask for FR Prayer Warriors to pray for relief from his pain and for his spirits to be lifted.
Prayers up and on way, Red.
The same thing happened to me, got my feet caught in
a power cord as I was going to turn and walk, fell
right on my face, Took the landing with my arms but
they weren’t flexed, now my left shoulder makes a
grinding noise. I had Xrays and nothing is broken
or fractured but something still wrong with it.
When your 70, you just can’t take this kind of
accident very well, I found it very depressing too.
I’m finally starting to feel better but there is
sure something wrong, when it sounds lie two
pieces of concrete rubbing together.
Please let us know how he’s doing.

So sorry to hear this. Prayers up for you both.
Thank you.
Thank you for your prayers.
Your situation sounds awful. Prayers for you.
I hear you about the age. The DH is 71.
Thanks, Suz.
Prayers for your husband’s complete healing and recovery, in Jesus Holy Name.
Praying that God will heal your dear husband, ease his pain and suffering and grant you strength, patience and wisdom.
“Lord, you told us, whatever the devil meant for harm, GOD will turn it around to my benefit”
That’s what I told GOD when I fell and broke my ankle and shattered all the bones in my foot. GOD did just that. In 3 months I was back to work. Even my doctors were amazed at my recovery.
ONLY BELIEVE. Remember, that was what Jesus said to the young father as he stopped Jesus and ask Him to come and lay hands on his daughter. The crowd around him jeered and laughed .. saying the child was already dead .. but the young father continued, saying to Jesus, “If you come and lay hands on her she will be healed”. Finally, Jesus hearing the young father’s faith, turned around and looked into the eyes of the young father and said, “Only Believe”. Jesus went to the young father’s house, laid hands on the child and she recovered.
ONLY BELIEVE.
Rotator cuff therapy is different. There are degrees of damage. And, the therapy can be very painful. I was fortunate and only had bone spurs with a minor tear which we caught early. I can’t predict what your husband will face. Mine was relatively easy with a rapid recovery. My boss had similar surgery and took a lot longer to recover.
I prayed for you and him. God bless you.
Making sure his normal chores are done by others will help relax him and reduce his anxiety. Hire some help that he can supervise. (handy man) This is a rare chance to seek knowledge, rehabilitation of his injuries, pray, do puzzles, see movies, plan and goal set, write a story, play cards with male friends, learn to graciously accept aide from others... Really, down time can be a blessing for self discovery and renewal. And, thank God, it is temporary and that time flies by.
You are in our prayers.
Getting old is not for sissies . . .
Prayers to the Savior for your husband’s relief from the discomfort and for you that your patience with him endures.
Prayers lifted for your husband and for you.
Prayer bump!
Prayers for your hubby. And you.
Sorry to hear that Bigg Red ,we will pray for him.My husband is the same always busy.I bought him an ipad :)He had a heart attack last week.((((Hugs))))
Hub may hate the whole idea, but when he is ready for physical rehab, yoga is so very helpful after injuries like this. I once messed up my shoulder and thought it would never recover it hurt for years. But after a year of twice-weekly yoga classes at the local gym, it is now totally pain-free. When the time is right, show him this:
Prayers for your husbands health, Bigg Red. Gosh.. in many ways.. he sounds like mine. Some years back, he broke his foot and then got gout on top of it. He was “mad” he couldn’t cut the lawn and felt “responsible” for not doing his household tasks. I told him I wanted to cut the lawn, it would burn calories, it is something I need to know how to do... Nope. He still felt like he was pushing a burden on me. So, I made him his favorite apple pie with crumb topping from scratch as a way to show him he’s still my number #1.
I am going to pray for both of you. Especially you. For patience.
Prayers for Mr. Bigg Red....please consider adding fish oil to recovery
