From Fundamentalist Baptist to Catholic – Steve Wilson’s Story
http://www.catholic-convert.com/ ^ | February 26, 2015 | Steve Wilson

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:54:44 PM PST by NKP_Vet

Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”

I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.

What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.

So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

Like I said before....you aren’t God. Your opinion doesn’t make something a fact when God’s word disagrees.

LOL oh my how absurd...still turning Christians into Catholics are ya, like was started a few hundred years after Jesus walked the earth, but not as bad as the following: In your post above 829 you said: Actually Jesus was the first Catholic I hope you find out how blasphemous that is before you go to purgatory. What a horrible thing to do, put God in a denomination! LOL. Funny to me but for you? Don't wanna know.

I didn't turn the Christians into Catholics, they did and before the end of the 1st century.

I pointed out that Jesus was the first Catholic, I didn't make Him a Catholic...He did by choosing the first Pope.....and Catholicism is not a denomination....it is Christianity at its purest and the word denomination is used to set aside, in over 20,000 groups, those Christians who are not Cathoic.

This thread PROVES that God has a sense of humor....fortunately

Babies can't be Biblically baptized.

Sure they can...we've been doing it for 2,015 years....works good, real little and easy to dip into the Font..

Didn't Jesus and John baptize entire households and all within them???

To say someone had no faith to start with is FACT. This priest let what was between his legs control his brain. He was not cut out to be a priest. It’s tough being a Catholic and very tough being a Catholic priest. Still waiting for one of those world renowned Catholic theologians who converted to a protestant faith because.

No, NOT fact. All you have is your own opinion, biased as it is, as you cannot know what was in the hearts of those who left Catholicism. Only God knows the inward appearance.

Your previous challenge to me WAS met...of which you have ignored and now you're off with yet another one! What makes you think I would spend any more time chasing after the proof you ask for when you would only ignore, disagree with or pretend wasn't answered again? You were shown to be WRONG in your assertions and you aren't man enough to admit it! You won't get another minute of my time because of that.

No, but I keep saying it because it is the truth....can't be any other way.....you choose to be Baptized, or you are baptized as an infant....either way, you don't get to choose the outcome...you are Baptized Catholic as it has ALWAYS been...you can't change it...

Just ANOTHER example of how close Catholicism is to Islam. They also believe that if you were born as a Muslim, you will always BE a Muslim and if you try to leave you can be killed. Wasn't that long ago many Catholics did that as well! TC, you are just plain wrong.

The ordinance of water baptism was NEVER meant to be a passive thing - something someone has done to them without their knowledge or consent. Infant baptism was NOT a practice of the early Christians. Little babies don't need baptism in order to go to heaven if they die before the age of responsibility. Even the Roman Catholic church has backed off that doctrine. They won't even use the term "Limbo" anymore to describe the place innocent, unbaptized babies go to. Now the RCC just says they trust in the mercy of God to do what is right by them, or words to that effect. Rather, we CAN trust that God is merciful and His grace extends to the innocents incapable of coming to saving faith in Jesus Christ.

If someone is born and raised in a certain faith tradition, they have every right - and actually SHOULD - come to a point where they must decide if that is what they truly believe and have the freedom to leave if it doesn't meet their needs. Paul said we have been chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world. God knows those that are His and His own know Him. We will come to Him no matter which faith, or lack of, we are born into.

AMAZING...for 1,600 years ALL Christians believed in transubstantiation....and here you are to finally clear all that stuff up.

Your own religion has admitted it has killed countless numbers of people for refusing to accept the fallacy of your Eucharist...It's getting quite ridiculous reading your senseless responses to these posts...

I pointed out that Jesus was the first Catholic, I didn't make Him a Catholic

Sure you did. Nothing in the Bible to back up your foolish statement that Jesus was a Catholic.

He did by choosing the first Pope

No, your first "pope" was deemed as Peter about 300 years later. Rewriting history.

and Catholicism is not a denomination....it is Christianity at its purest and the word denomination is used to set aside, in over 20,000 groups, those Christians who are not Cathoic .

You left off 12,000. Don't remember how many you made in the past?

And I think you are the only Cathoic.

baptized as an infant

Branded at birth, with a MARK that cannot be removed. Scary.

Babies can't be Biblically baptized. [addition: Biblical baptism is a CONSIOUS decision]

But they can be MARKED. Sad.

And you reply:Yeah, that circumcision thing bothers me too....oh well!

So, the many Catholics on FR that say a baby is marked by baptism, that mark is circumcision? Now I understand. Baptism means circumcision, that's why it is called the the "mark" huh? Makes much more sense!

Are you sure you were supposed to reveal that? You may get in trouble.

Terycarl, you are a great witness to bring people into Biblical Christianity.

As one of the most prolific, knowledgeable (about Catholicism, especially the bizarre aspects) Catholic posters here, to bring a person out of Catholicism...or just into Biblical Christianity...this link does the job quite well:

Cain and Able were not true brothers; they had different ‘fathers.’

ES is claiming that Cain was the child of the devil.

ES post 713Cain was of his Father, the ‘Devil!’

Is this now accepted non-Catholic belief?

If it is what proof is there of this. I just re-read Genesis about 2 weeks ago and don't recall seeing this.

I hope this isn't going to one of those cases where you all close ranks and ignore the elephant in the room.

Nope...It's not accepted belief...There are some of us however who do accept the idea that the sin of Eve was fornication with the devil...We could be wrong but it seems plausible...
