Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.
I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.
What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldnt be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been born again or have accepted Christ as their Savior, their main response is I believe in God or I am a good person, or Im Catholic. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, dont they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

The Church is the Body of Christ, according to St. Paul. So I guess St. Paul is “nuttier than a fruitcake.”
Unless you can explain how the BODY OF CHRIST can be something other than CHRIST.
According to St. Paul, every member of the Church is an adopted SON OF GOD. (I.e., a son of God the FATHER.)
So, if you can explain how someone can be an ADOPTED SON OF GOD (the Father) without being an ADOPTED MEMBER OF THE TRINITY, go ahead.
You know I’ve seen some pretty stupid threads on FR over the years....but these “I’m more christian than you are “ threads are hillarious...
Pride is still a sin isnt it?
Yet you still cast stones at each other.
I have seen a lot of verses ripped from their context. I have seen a lot of gratuitous assertions that those verses “prove” that Jesus didn’t mean what he said. I have seen lots of verses twisted and tortured to say things they clearly don’t say.
Yeah it’s screams of bigotry....like using the term “you people”
You clearly used it as a derogitive.
Judging from the responces in this thread...being “born again” also comes with a license to mock, trash, and insult others....
When you say Church of course you mean the Catholic church...Paul preached against your Church...
Show me your Church in the scriptures...Show me where ALL of the clergy are unmarried, childless males...Show me where ALL of the clergy are called Father...Show me where Peter is called Holy Father...
Show me where Jesus turned bread into flesh and wine into blood...Show me where Jesus ever told anyone to turn bread into flesh and wine into blood...Show me where all the clergy wore long robes to set them apart from the rest of the crowd...
Your Church is NOT the church of the scriptures...Anyone can see that by reading the scriptures...
The church in the scriptures is not an institution...The church is the body of Christ which is all of the members of the body...It is definitely not an institution...If the body of Christ is Jesus, then I am Jesus, not some leadership of an organization...
So, if you can explain how someone can be an ADOPTED SON OF GOD (the Father) without being an ADOPTED MEMBER OF THE TRINITY, go ahead.
Are you part of the Trinity??? Are you Jesus??? Are you God???
I don't believe you...I haven't seen any of that and I'm here a lot...
But Catholics say that baptism saves and causes one to be born again.
Then they say it's the eucharist.
Which is it? Does baptism save or not? Is the baby not really saved until they eat Jesus after all?
Jesus said that HE was the way, the truth, and the life and that no man comes to the Father but through HIM.
You don't have to get to the gate through a gatekeeper. Jesus never taught that.
We are commanded to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, not in the name of the Catholic church.
So, no, not everyone who has been baptized was baptized into Catholicism.
Hate to break that news to the RCC but their power grab fails.
Are you taught that by your church? Or is that something you came up with on your own?
If they’re given Catholic funerals by the Catholic church, they are yours by Catholic church decision.
Too bad for you if you don’t like it.
Take it up with your hierarchy. It’s THEIR decision.
I've noticed that as well. Christ always is secondary and in the background.
Hey, terycarl.
You need to straighten the priest out.
He thinks that there are Catholics who are not Christians.
Well, (some) Catholics claim that when they are baptized, they are born again, so that sword you’re flailing away with cuts both ways.
But no one can prove that the "traditions" Paul was talking about are the same "traditions" the Catholic Church teaches today.
Marcus Grodi's, The Journey Home, Monday nights at 8:00 PM, offers wonderful conversion stories, and is now one of my favorite EWTN programs.
The Catholic Church has pretty much whitewashed it’s history of keeping people from reading scripture. It’s equivalent to the public schools clearing God from any history.
Thanks to you, and to Mr. Rogers for providing examples of what is out there in the historical record, having read some of it myself many years ago.
