From Fundamentalist Baptist to Catholic – Steve Wilson’s Story
http://www.catholic-convert.com/ ^ | February 26, 2015 | Steve Wilson

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:54:44 PM PST by NKP_Vet

Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”

I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.

What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.

So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

When you have NOTHING to say, just jump up and down REAL HARD on what others say....yeah, that'll work!

WOW...3 in a row....naughty Popes, whatever that other thing is, and Mary's time line.

I told you before that Mary, being assumed bodily into Heaven, is no longer restrained by mere time constraints.

An hour is like a thousand years is like 15 seconds....something like that...anyway time, as we know it, does not apply in Heaven......I think that you're just putting us on....you probably knew that all by yourself!!!!

You will be blessed for helping these ladies out!

In my area; it’s flatter than a flitter and there are no old ladies around.

My closest neighbors are 1/4 mile away.

We have a Pope...you guys act as your own....my statement was just an opinion...

Yup; you got one all right.

Why does he cause so much; uh; 'discussion' among you Catholics?

Catholics start threads about Catholicism and of course evangelicals have to weigh in and run down Catholicism. Different day, same story.

Boo hoo.

Start them as CAUCUS if you want to keep us pesky Prots out!

I know the truth and will not hijack a protestant thread just trying to stir up trouble.

I know the bible, and there is plenty enough trouble on a Catholic started thread.

repeating 2+2=5 doesn't make that true either.

Likewise, "This is my body..."

The tale of the Emperor’s New Clothes seems to fly right over the heads of some.

She said yes and for that reason Jesus Christ was born.

Just keep telling yourself this.

She said yes ...

Students; your assignment for today is to find the YES in this text. You have 10 minutes.

Luke 1:26-38    New International Version (NIV)

26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

34 “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

35 The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called[a] the Son of God. 36 Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. 37 For no word from God will ever fail.”

38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

And if she did say no, then God would not have been stymied.

God’s plans are not thwarted nor is He held hostage to human decision.

The fact of the matter of it is that the angel told Mary what was going to happen to her. Nowhere does the context imply or suggest that Mary had a choice nor was asked permission.

Well, when RC's start threads that run down non-Catholics, then yes, we will weigh in.

If y'all don't want *Prot* input, then don't post the poking a sharp stick in Prots eyes kind of threads.

I am specifically talking about posting threads about the start of Christianity in the world. It is not my fault that it is also the founding of the Catholic Church. You can’t separate the two.

Yes, this is the teaching of the Catholic sect and it appears that all Catholics believe it. Millions or billions believing an error does not turn the error into the Truth. A large number of Catholics have become non-Catholic believers of the Truth, even though not all on this forum have.

The Word of God CAN and DOES separate the two. The Holy Spirit does the rest of the daily care and sanctification.

Christ founded one Church and that is the Catholic Church. Not 50,000. Please give it a rest.

Yes, please give it a rest. Read Acts....you will find churches were popping up all over the place.

Nonsense. She could have said no. She said yes and for that reason Jesus Christ was born.

The limited reasoning of the catholic on display. It's also illustrative of the elevated view of mary that catholicism has. Without her "consent", the whole thing would never have happened. Hence the need to worship Mary.

Let's presume that Mary was being asked if she wanted to participate as if this were the Price is Right. If she had said no, would that have stopped God....the Sovereign Creator of the Universe?

No.

At this point in Jewish history there was an expectation of the coming Messiah. We see this when Andrew and Peter are called as disciples. Mary is aware of this also.

There would probably be only a small % of girls in that time period who would not have wanted to have the honor bestowed upon Mary.

She knew the OT and understood the honor Gabriel was announcing to her. Her only questions were how was it going to happen as she knew she hadn't been having sex with anyone.

When Gabriel explained everything, she was good to go.

It's not a complicated story.

I am officially jealous, This is farm country, the flatter the more expensive, up to 1,000 per acre, throw a 3 bedroom ranch on it and you are talking 200,00- 300,000 easy.

Why would ANYONE want to live where the world is perfectly flat?

I’ve seen Iowa. It was scary-looking; nothing to get your bearings from when it’s too cloudy. Messed up my sense of balance and I couldn’t stand easily or walk straight.

Oh, wait, that was before...

Your beef is with the last 2,000 years of recorded Christianity. Too bad all the Church fathers are not still around. You could email them all and tell them they have no idea what were talking about.
