The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary CUF
Issue: What does the Church teach concerning the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary?
Response: The teaching is aptly summarized in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 974:
The Most Blessed Virgin Mary, when the course of her earthly life was completed, was taken up [assumed] body and soul into the glory of heaven, where she already shares in the glory of her Sons Resurrection, anticipating the resurrection of all members of His Body.

Surely they are ALLOWED to cherrypick their OWN writings; eh?
Can then Catholics then acknowledge this verse from the same John:
30 Many other signs also did Jesus in the sight of his disciples, which are not written in this book. 31 But these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: and that believing, you may have life in his name. Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA) Public Doman
All the latter day proclamations of Rome that require belief for salvation fall outside this admonition from John. PV/IC/Papal infallibility etc are all additions to the salvation message. As such they are another Gospel, just like Paul indicated.
What Catholics don't seem to understand is that the "early church" was the apostles. They and they alone are the group that Christ taught and who the Holy Spirit guided to record what was to be conveyed to subsequent generations. We see already in Acts 15 that there were those trying to add to what the apostles taught. It was the apostles and Paul alone who were taught by Christ yet we have Catholics and others trying to claim it's not good enough to rely on them alone.
People laugh at how a story told orally from person to person after time isn't even the same story but has changed and can't be trusted yet Catholics trust their eternal future on such story telling.
Catholics scoff at the idea of putting faith in Christ alone but put their faith in mere mortal men trusting that somehow that oral story telling didn't change. It makes no sense yet they trust those men with their eternal future.
They were commemorating the...gasp...Death of Mary.
For most it's a scary thing to stand alone in front of almighty God. Little do they seem to realize that we don't stand alone but Christ stands with us.

Well, then I will throw out all of your quoting from those who "converted to Catholicism" and all your "church fathers" which you like to post. Oh, and the quote you posted.
>>perhaps this debate ends and you should accept the following:<<
I accept what Jesus and the apostles taught. The only reason I ever quote your so called "church fathers" is to show the duplicity of Catholic thinking and belief.
With all that evidence they still cling to the false premise of Rome. My guess is that most Catholics will never read and study to find truth but will continue to put their full faith and trust in an organization and the men that lead it.
Christ put His trust on Peter, and in His one Church. That’s enough and gave His assurances. We don’t need the born again shallow Bible Christian stuff. That’s for the Joel Osteens. We have the Holy Eucharist. Can’t ask for more. Those who don’t believe ar heretics. Go read up on John:
Keep your cotton-picking hands off of those cherries, you... you worm (&chicken) farmer!
Middle French, from Late Latin dormition-, dormitio, from Latin, act of sleeping, from dormitus (past participle of dormire to sleep) + -ion-, -io -ion more at dormant
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dormition
dormition - A peaceful and painless death, as well as the act of sleeping or falling asleep.

time for catholicism to redefine the word!
It's amazing you continue to post the same thing over and over when you've been shown over and over the catholic position regarding Peter being the rock is not supported by all the ECFs catholics cling to so dearly.
Why?
“Christ put His trust on Peter, and in His one Church. “
Christ put His trust in Himself as God.
He chose to use fallible humans in His gathering, just as God has always used fallible humans (and the occasional ass). He also removes His presence from gatherings that fail Him.
“We dont need the born again...” - unless you want to be saved and have eternal life.
“We have the Holy Eucharist.” - except you pretend it is Christ and worship it.
