I have done way more research on the Father's actions than anyone on this board. I am steadfast in my position. It isn't an accusation it is a fact. If you really want to know do some research from sources other than the Catholic ones.

Start with Steve Hackel who is actually very easy on Serra.

In any case I am not going to discuss this further. Your dogma is to deep.

You were one lucky person to live in Carmel by the Sea!!!

Indeed I was - especially in the '70's...and BEFORE the Aquarium with it's traffic pressure. We could manage to get through the Pebble Beach Golf Tournament every year - knowing it would be over in a few days - but the Aquarium brought that traffic year round.

Carmel, att, was about 5,000 - friendly little community - beaches in every direction - wilderness 'parks' of 100's of acres each in every direction - sea food to die for - and, for me, an artist, haven...and Clint ;)

When he’s a saint—the Missions he founded will become holy pilgramage sites—Places to wash away sins. BUT, Did you know he founded one Mission in Baja, Mexico? Its in ruins now and should be restored—I say restore the site—put in a gift shop and hotel, maybe a spa? Watch the money roll in!

Well, being here in KahLeeFawnEeYah, we are surrounded by idiots and left wing lunatics.

I was treated all day, yesterday, to morons calling Father Junipero Serra a mass murderer and a prime executioner of a the extinction of native peoples.

It is an idiotic claim, particularly when balanced against the writings, of the day, describing his compassion for the people.

Hence, what my sarcastic response that didn’t quite come through.

Oh, and I love going to the Missions, in particular San Juan Bautista and Carmel and have even attended church at those, and the mission in San Jose.

Just beautiful and so historic.

BTW, there is a statue just off highway 280 overlooking the Bay Area of Father Junipero Serra.

Hope that clears my response up.

If you don’t live here, you just don’t see the klowns I see on a daily basis.

I am baffled by the actions of this Pope who sends out so many mixed messages by being traditional on one hand and by being progressive on the other.

Me too. Given the news in the last few days, I amosf expected this newly sainted Saint to be some kind of primitive environmentalist.

Every Christian is a saint. “beloved of God, called saints.” (Romans 1:1) “to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints.” (1 Corinthians 1:2) All it takes to be a saint is to be loved by God and sanctified in Christ Jesus. It does not require miracles or election or stigmata. It just requires faith and sanctification.

Saints are also people who are alive. “But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints. For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.” (Romans 15:25-26) These people were certainly not dead; otherwise they would not have needed money.

Saints do not have any special status in interceding with God. In fact, they need intercession. “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:27) If they are on earth and require the intercession of the Holy Spirit on their behalf, how can they take prayers to God on the behalf of others? Yes, we all can pray for others, but God listens to all Christians, not just a select few.

You got it!! One evening, hubby came home late in the afternoon from classes, told me to get the boys and turn the oven down to low...then surprised us by taking us down to the beach, where we sat on the rocks to watch the sunset. He had brought a blanket and a basket with bread cheese and wine (water for the kids). I will never forget it!!!

;-)

Her dogma is TOO deep? What in the world does that mean? Please explain.

PS One book does not even begin to research adequately....and certainly not a book by an author with an agenda...who also has NO real specialization in this area of history. Do you have any SCHOLARLY sources?

This isn’t a dogma — which shows me that you may not know that of which you speak.

**I have done way more research on the Father’s actions than anyone on this board. **

And exactly how do you know this? Are you personally acquainted with everyone who posts on FR?

LOL!
