Ping?
Amen.
Amen!
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
In context above, Christ was damning those who are engaging in false prophecy, claiming God said something He didn’t say, or that He didn’t say something He said. Preaching another gospel, etc., is just such false prophecy. This is why people like Osteeen are merely the damned leading the damned.
Christ died for our sins
Adding to that simple truth is dangerous ground indeed. Even here on this forum we hear on a daily basis those who add to that.
Yup. And they aren’t limited to any particular denomination either.
When Adam and Eve sinned, they hid from God “because they were naked.” Now - clothed in Christ - we are fully acceptable and fully restored to the state of Adam and Eve before they sinned. The work of Jesus has been completed!
Amen! Mankind hasn’t changed since the Garden. Lost sinners still try to cover their nakedness with a fig leaf apron of works.
“...while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Amen to article! Always get a kick out of Paul’s jab at the circumcision party in Galatians 5:12.
“I wish those who unsettle you would emasculate themselves!” ESV
“I would they were even cut off which trouble you.” KJV
I wonder if propriety led past translators and commentators to suggest “cut off” meant to be “cut off from God’s people” vs CUT OFF PARTS! Either way Paul is making a cut on the false teachers.
Any change in the message of Jesus Christ turns it into a different gospel
Yup. Ping.
But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not! For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor. For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.
Galatians 3:1-29 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? Did you suffer so many things in vainif indeed it was in vain? Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith just as Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness?
Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, In you shall all the nations be blessed. So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them. Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for The righteous shall live by faith. But the law is not of faith, rather The one who does them shall live by them. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for usfor it is written, Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
To give a human example, brothers: even with a man-made covenant, no one annuls it or adds to it once it has been ratified. Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, And to offsprings, referring to many, but referring to one, And to your offspring, who is Christ. This is what I mean: the law, which came 430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to make the promise void. For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.
Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was put in place through angels by an intermediary. Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one.
Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law. But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.
And its such an easy trap to fall into.
That's a fact. Satan will attack faith wherever he finds it.
One of the only times I heard Bill O’Reilly on his radio show he pounded some caller because she made a biblical point from the epistles. He started yelling something like “that’s not in the gospels,” as if Matthew, Mark, Luke and John have priority.
“And its such an easy trap to fall into.”
Well, it just seems...so right
There are lots of things that the flesh thinks are so right.
And since I’m still stuck in it, it’s a constant battle to keep it in line.
That’s why I see so much value in Scripture memory and meditation. It always gives me an answer when the flesh rises up and reminds of the spiritual truths around me and which I operate in that do not press in on me as the world does.
That's a fact. Satan will attack faith wherever he finds it.
Yes, he will do the same thing he did to the Galatians, getting them to believe that in order to be saved they must first be baptized, do good works and become members of a certain church, then they might have a slim chance of going to Heaven if their good deeds outweigh their bad deeds. I think we have all heard this before.
