Today's Scripture
Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished. (I Chronicles 28:20, ESV)
Today's Word from Joel and Victoria
Fear not. That is the message David had for his son, Solomon. For many years, David wanted to build a temple for the Lord. But God told Him that specific job belonged to his son, Solomon. Solomon was young and inexperienced, and even though he knew he had a mandate from God, he was intimidated by the prospect of building a great house of worship, one that would be a dwelling place for the Most High. You can probably understand his apprehension.
But his father David had some good advice for him. He told his son, Forget your fear. God is bigger than your problems. He is bigger than the temple you are going to build. He is bigger than any adversity that you might face. So just get busy and do your part and God will do the rest.
Perhaps as this new year approaches, you have some changes that need to be made. Maybe you need a renovation in your marriage, finances, health, or emotions. Whatever your individual needs may be, notice the words of David, Be strong and courageous, and do it. Fear not, be not dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you.
A Prayer for Today
God, Im excited to see what You have planned for me this year. Whatever I face, I will not be intimidated. I will begin this year by seeing myself as You do happy, healthy, and prosperous. Thank you for the gift of another year. In Jesus name, Amen.
Yea FR is basically all RC all the time ...and many of the threads are "closed" or devotional .. Might be good to look at this again
And of course it was different for the apostles that all lived in mansions and had classy chariots to drive
Especially in light of what happens when non-Catholics post caucus threads.
It’s been a while, but basically, we quit doing it because they always got crashed by the Catholics, and then the caucus label was removed.
I remember last time I crashed a Catholic caucus thread. The caucus label was not removed and I was very unceremoniously uninvited from participating on it.
And I’ve seen the same thing happen recently to others, some of whom just innocently stumble on the threads at that.
I’ll buy that too!
Like mentioned...reminded me of the Baker clan.
It says the following on the RM page: “Religion Forum threads labeled Devotional:
Devotional threads are closed to debate of any kind.”
So there is that.
Yep.
>>Posting threads that dont allow for discussion give that impression, that FR is protecting Osteens teachings, therefore endorsing them.<<
The same could be applied to the Pope peddling climate change.
This is the Religion forum. Perhaps your filter is not applied. That happens.
I’ve relied on this devotional almost every day. It is very encouraging.
There are so many angry religious folks out there who seem to hate those who preach encouragement in the gospel of the grace and hope of Jesus Christ. They want law-based preaching. That’s fine. But that’s no reason to constantly persecute those who preach grace, which is the heart of the gospel.
We who adhere to grace instead of the law for our continued salvation and victory are either in the minority or we are part of the “silent majority” neither of which determines what is really the truth of the gospel.
Jim, I hope you don’t discourage these Joel Osteen devotionals. I have personally found them to be effective and encouraging on a daily basis and I know it has been for others as well.

So much for “Roman Catholic baptism leaves an indelible mark” on us. I got tossed once too. I guess that indelible deal does not apply:)
I agree...While Joel's preaching is extremely shallow and unbalanced, I don't see anything he says that will send anyone to hell...
Unlike one religion here which constantly perverts scripture, I don't see Joel doing that...Probably because he doesn't use much scripture...
I do as well tho question the 'devotional tag'...
Another point is that people are at different stages in their faith. Some are mature Christians that require more 'meat,' while others are just getting started and require more 'milk.' While some would be okay with 'stronger' messages (like Chambers), others would be okay with Osteen. It would be a great disservice for JR to ban milk based on meat being better, in the same way it would be a disservice to do away with Grade school because Doctorate degrees are available.
Finally, even if I am in the minority, I hope the Osteen messages continue. Why? It starts with a Bible verse, a short inference and a prayer at the end. At the very least it is a daily Bible verse. Yes, there are deeper 'doctorate level' alternatives out there, but not everyone is at PhD level.
This isn’t religious worship. It is self worship with God’s name being misrepresented.
You don’t visit the RF very often, do you?
WHAT?!?
See my tagline.
That is garbage prosperity preaching at its finest right there. Using Bible quotes to encourage people to do whatever they like and God-uh will be on their side.
I don’t think they belong in the Religion Forum at all. Just because someone uses Bible quotes to support their quackery doesn’t make it religion. It’s just dressed up quackery.
He is not a religious figure to many here, either
true, when RC threads are about how protestants are not real Christians they should not be allowed to be debate-free!
Protestant bashing should never be “caucus” threads
