With Reformation Day coming up, this is a good time to recall why the Reformers departed from Roman Catholicism. In our day especially, it seems that many Christians have history-amnesia when it comes to the importance of what God did through the Reformers. During the Reformation, great confusion existed regarding what was, and was not, the true church of Christ. Rome had asserted itself as the true church for centuries, and continues to do so today. However, as the Reformers recognized then, Christians must follow in step today by recalling that joining hands with Rome is a departure from Christ.
To be clear, this is not to say that everyone who sits in a Roman Catholic church is not a Christian. What it is saying is that several changes must occur before Roman Catholicism, by the book, can be considered biblical Christianity. And the men and women of the Reformation understood this, hence their necessary break with Rome. In their case, and ours, joining Christ necessitates breaking with Rome and coming under Christ means coming out from under Rome.
Christians will know that it is time to join hands with Rome when it does the following:
1. Renounce the Papacy.

I became a Christian after the reformation - centuries after. I go by the word of God and my relationship with him through prayer and his answers rather than my knowledge of the history of any man-made church.
But the article was interesting and I buy into all six quite readily.

As a former catholic, I invite one and all to leave what liberalism has wrought and re-find your faith without the middle man, tithes and Democrat party donating.

Hard to dispute what you wrote as a former Roman Catholic myself.
I’m the last guy to prostelyze. I have an aversion to it. But I hate seeing good people contribute to the spread of evil. And this pope solidified evil in Rome.
No offense but the debates about this here are mostly pointless as they devolve into snipe to be correctedcontests.
Each side feels the other is unorthodox and until Christ returns there’s going to be division. Of course share beliefs and help questioning people, but this kind of thing here usually just makes the trenches deeper.
Every religion that isn’t Christianity is a religion of works. And none of them tell you when you’ve done enough to be assured of your salvation.
Just two religions in the world. Christianity, and Works. Christianity has works too, but they’re done BECAUSE you’re grateful God saves you, not because your works themselves save you.

More precisely, why did they seem to have to wait 1500 years?
If the Church was so very bad, one would THINK that
--the Reformation might have happened sooner;
--some other Catholic (European) priests would have begun the process of separation;
--there would be ONE or even TEN Protestant denominations instead of 30,000+ different Protestant denominations in the world, divided among 1.6 billion Christians:
--that there wouldn't be 1.6 billion Catholics in the world
--that those 1.6 billion Catholics wouldn't be united in one faith, one doctrine, one denomination, under ONE Pope, from an unbroken line of popes, beginning with St. Peter, who received the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Luther received no keys. Do you really think that 30,000 different Protestant (protesting no more) is what Jesus had in mind?

The Shouters are an offshoot of the Local Churches considered a dangerous sect by the Chinese government; due to the extremely decentralized nature of both groups, there is controversy over which house churches should be actually considered part of each. Eastern Lightning, which is in turn an offshoot of The Shouters, is very hierarchical (in contrast to its predecessors) and teaches that Christ has already returned as a woman named Lightning Deng.
