He did not choose to marry, and there is clear evidence that he also asked his apostles to live celibacy in order to follow him.
With the destruction of the Jewish nation coming upon them I doubt if marriage would be the best idea.
Also a few good men is all Jesus needed to start the spreading of the Gospel so it is not as if he was discouraging marriage in general.

Which means Peter was ALREADY married when he took up with Jesus. Do you expect him to divorce? I have had 7 year olds that understand the logic of this.

Talk about misrepresenting the concept. You people amaze me. I am so glad you are not Catholic.

The intent of the article was a serious discussion about celibacy and consecration to G_d. Even across multiple cultures the concept of consecration included celibacy, if only temporary for married men. By temporary they meant years in many cases.
Compare this to modern hedonistic cultures that can't imagine fidelity, much less celibacy.

Yes I know. But sit back and marvel at what it becomes on this thread.

The Bible CLEARY permits a married clergy:
“A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach.”

"
And in any case, the fact that he was unmarried when he wrote his letters shows that your idea, Celibacy is unnatural makes no sense unless you think St. Paul was unnatural - and Jesus too."
(1)Show me where I said it is my idea that celibacy is unnatural. The only thing unnatural is for any Church to claim authority to order it for the priesthood.
(2)Paul was a member of the Sanhedrin and it was a requirement for them so at some point he was married.
(3)Paul was natural, Jesus had a mission that made marriage impossible.

Oh, it was someone else’s post to you. I apologize.
“Paul was natural, Jesus had a mission that made marriage impossible.”
Not impossible, just unfair to the bride.
