He gave her to John.

NOWHERE is there any evidence that John handed her off to anyone else.

Exactly. John, the youngest Apostle, the one whom Jesus loved, and the only one not to die as a martyr, represents the Church.

For that matter, Mary was obviously so insignificant that no one even kept track of her or where she lived out her last days. No secular writer, no religious writer, no one.
