it even says in John that there are many things that Jesus did that weren't recorded in Scripture.

I fully agree. It was WAY before her birth.
good grief

...it's]sic] certainly includes her, since she was the first to hope in Christ. She was the first to accept Jesus as her Savior!Wrong on both counts.
Many in the old testament hoped in Christ.
Many also in those days depended on Jesus their Saviour.
And also accurately prophesized his coming!
Thank you for the scripture quotes [This Scripture brilliantly applies to Mary, and of course not only to Mary, but to us] which show that we (Christians) are on equal footing with God, same as Mary. Sinners, saved by Grace.
Remember, Jesus is Mary's Savior. You can't have a savior without needing one.
Jesus is the only one that walked the earth that did NOT need a savior.
ealgeone: I second your good grief!

The Holy Spirit is clear in Scripture in calling Mary *the mother of Jesus*.
John 2:1 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.
John 2:3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, They have no wine.
Acts 1:14 All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
Show me the term *mother of GOD* anywhere in Scripture.

Im fine. Im not the one denying that Mary is the mother of Jesus. The Catholic church is the one doing that. "Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners.....that's Jesus' mom that we're talking about in that prayer...."Hail Mary, full of grace, the LORD is with thee(the Lord is Jesus...remember your Catholic upbringing??

Saying *mother of GOD* means *mother of GOD*.
Is God not the Trinity?
Following some other Catholics logic...
If Mary is the Mother of GOD.
And if God is the Trinity.
Mary is the mother of the Trinity.
Now, saying *mother of Jesus* says a whole different thing.

Mary is not the Mother of the Trinity. She is the Mother of a Person, Jesus Christ Our Lord.Exactly.
Don't you think that would be why the Holy Spirit inspired men to name her *mother of JESUS* instead of *mother of GOD*?

the tradition being used wasWas WHAT again?
Apostolic tradition was apostolic.
That is about as tight a radius I've ever seen that illustrates circular logic.

Not much, Wrong.
None.
In context, Jesus was talking about titles given to religious leaders, NOT children addressing their male parent.
But context never mattered much to the Catholic church.

Neither can be cited as an example of preaching Scripture in the absence of Apostolic Tradition. Neither can be cited as an example of preaching Scripture in the PRESENCEof Apostolic Tradition.

LOL I had to go back to figure this out. In the original post which I pinged you notice you were second in the ping. I was responding to the first name whose post I was responding to. I only pinged you out of courtisy because he had. The post wasn’t directed at you.

Right you are.
You are correct about the righteous Jews of the OT hoping in Christ their Savior. But what I meant was that Mary was the first who actually accepted Jesus Christ, true God and true Man.
There are two ways a person ca be saved from a pit. By being pulled out of the pit. Or by being prevented from falling into the pit. In both cases, you need Savior.
This is, with the understanding that, without the Savior, one would have indeed fallen into the pit.

So?
Show us where else what Jesus did was recorded besides Scripture and then tell us why it wasn't included in the canon in the first place.
