As much as I clearly detest Osteen I must say I agree with the RM’s stance on this.

There are plenty of FReepers who think Reformed Theology is heretical. Would we Reformed folks be shut down next?

Only thing is...this isn’t America. This is Free Republic website, user supported, and I vote against this idea of Devotionals at all, because of Osteen and the other main reason you mentioned.

There are plenty of online sources to go to, including Osteen’s own. Plenty.

I believe in the finished work of the Messiah of Israel.. we are saved by grace through faith...

We all meet Him as Jesus...I did..
But He didn’t let me stay there.. and I was very willing to stay ‘there’.

I had no problems with the name Jesus until a nice Catholic gave me a set of rosary beads that had an instruction manual with them..

And in that book, the spirit that came down as Mary, gave 15 promises for praying the rosary..
And testing the spirit, the first promise on her list was a lie- confirmed with scripture on the testimony of ‘Jesus’.

Well, that isnt a big deal until one reads down to number 14 on the list..

That spirit points direct to her son, Jesus,in number 14.. and that is exactly the excuse Catholics use when they talk so much about their lady.

No truth comes for a lie.., and a lying spriit will not point to the Way, Truth or Life..
So I set out to find Truth..

And only with His help, I was shown that the name Jesus is just a greco roman latin tradition as much as Christ’s mass or easter.. they all are birthed from the Greco roman latin persuasion.. And I had no problem with them before that catholic gave me those beads..

I then studied Scripture. I studied His Feasts, His New Moons, His Sabbaths, His Calendar.. it all came back the same.. the papacy had created their own copycats..

Now, they are just a vessel for the master counterfeiter.

If one needs to believe that Jesus was born on December 25, killed on good Friday and raised on easter to be a Christian, I could no longer be a ‘christian’, because scripture tells me the Messiah was really born on one of His Appointed Times ( a particular new moon day-revelation 12)

He laid His life down on Passover, another appointed time, which on our Heavenly Father’s calendar is the 14th day of His 1st month..

He laid in the tomb on the High Annual Sabbath Feast of unleavened bread(15th day)- even in death He obeyed the Sabbath. Another appointed time.

He was raised on the third day, the 16th day of the month, the Feast of First Fruits, another appointed time.. (that was a Wednesday for Israel the year) it hasn’t changed being the ‘first day of the week’, but the world doesnt use our Heavenly Father’s calendar so a Wednesday as a ‘first day of the week’ makes no sense on the pope’s calendar.

Add in further study, even His circumcision, dedication in temple and His baptism, every major life event of the Messiah, landed on one of our Heavenly Father’s New Moons, Sabbaths or Feasts- appointed times. scripture hints at it and His template would confirm it.

We may not understand it, but we can certainly expect it when Scripture says the Word became flesh and dwelt among us..

If one studies His calendar, His Son jumps out..Truth will melt the copycats counterfeits, half truths and lies away..

Those holy days in scripture have been replaced by days that can only be found using the world’s calendar because the same source gave us both- the papacy.

The Greco roman Latin name Jesus follows greco roman latin December 25 and easter..I don’t think they can be separated..

Could I call Him Jesus? I guess I could..I used to.. But Christianity has already decided what Jesus’ birthday is, what day He died and what day He roae..

I call Him Yahshua. And I have no problem saying the Hebrew Messiah, with a Hebrew Name, fulfills the Feasts of YHWH.

By the way, I don’t’ ‘observe’ them like Jews do.. that is the beauty of His calendar, His weekly Sabbaths never change on His calendar (they would appear to change constantly on the pope’s calendar)
His Feasts start on Sabbaths and a gentile like me obeying His Sabbath can’t help but observe a feast without even trying..

So, Yashua/Joshua has just a slightly different story than Jesus. The words and deeds are exactly the same.. who, how and when we worship is the difference..

And the last book of revelation says worship is important in the last days.. the battle is over worship.. and even the very elect could be deceived.

The papacy has taken Scriptural Truth, of a Hebraic theme, and turned it into a greco roman latin theme, with a savior and a calendar that the whole world accepts as just givens..

I was willing to test the givens. And I believe I have been blessed beyond measure for having Him lead me wherever He wanted me to go. I can see by His Grace how Satan deceives the whole world today, not just in the future..

So, your beef is only with the RCC? I understood from your posts that it was you who had some special knowledge that also can save a man body soul and spirit.

Your mistake was turning to Rome first instead of seeking Jewish Christians, some of whom have ceased trying to maintain a mixture of observant modern Judaism and also maintaining position as a true believer in and follower of ONLY the Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God.

I hope you discover the latter: Continuing faith in only Jesus Christ as Lord is the Way (our only way) to the Father in Heaven, God Almighty.

The Church is made up of believers, not one particular denomination or the Catholic church. We protestants may belong to different denominations, but anyone who has given their life to Jesus Christ and lives to obey His word is part of the “Church” spoken of in the Bible. And this includes all Christians throughout the world.

Well sure, you are absolutely correct, but what I was attempting to point is the in fighting within various denominations within the protestant church exampled within this thread with criticism (constructive I believe) of Joel Osteen.

My personal belief is that God is more merciful than we give Him credit...this is the exact reason He came to us in the form of a man. God wanted to show us his love.

God warns us NOT TO BE deceived, but does anyone really believe that God ascended back into heaven with parting words...”see y'all later, good luck to ya?”.

God forgave ALL sin, past, present and future. He reconciled us to Him through the ultimate sacrifice and atoning blood of the precious lamb.

Now, the struggle is against our flesh and satan, but because we struggle with various things in our lives, does God love us any less? When we put our trust in Jesus, do we still struggle with sin? Is God a holy God? Can ANY sin reside in His presence? Even the smallest of sin?

Now, I am sure that the messages will come flowing in on how skewed my beliefs may be, but don't care. I stand clothed in the righteous of Christ Jesus and am a work in progress. I ain't there yet, but I am pointed in the right direction.

Folks need to allow themselves to be forgiven. We as Christians need to stop calling folks up to pray the sinners prayer....”now son, all your sins have been forgiven, you are now released from the curse of the law”.

Then, a few days later...ok son, you need to do this, pray every day, three times a day, drive the church bus, give your tithes, witness to others....and so forth.

Many denominations un-knowingly place seekers/baby Christians right back under the law. Many will feel they can never do quite enough to please God, thus falling into the trap of attempting to subconsciously earn their way into favor with this holy God that is sitting at the edge of His throne prepared to poof you into a smoldering pile of ashes if one neglects to tow the line.

Bottom line (at least for me), we as Christians need to do a lil better job ministering to the broken. Folks don't need some self made bible scholar and or liturgical expert to rail on then with all the do’s and don’ts. Each person is unique...God made us unique.

Each and every person in the church struggles with something in their lives, whether they realize it or not. We are all in a different place in our walk with God. God accepts folks RIGHT WHERE THEY ARE! Not where YOU think they should be.

Once a person truly realizes the love that God has for them, once they understand that God is not mad at them. Once a person knows that they can once and for all they may walk from the prison of guilt and shame as children of the most high God.....this is when their lives transform and they will begin a true relationship with Jesus.

So, dove tailing back to Joel. Those without sin, cast the first stone.

Satan has his own trinity in scripture...

In revelation 13.. and that trinity will cause people to break the first four commandments in Exodus.

1. Worship the dragon (rev 13:4) vs You shall have no other Elohim (exo 20:3)
2. Worship the image (rev 13:15) vs. You shall not make a graven image, nor bow down and worship. (Exo 20:4-5)
3. Blaspheme His name (rev 13:6) vs. You shall not take YHWH, your Elohim, name in vain (exo 20:7)
4. Receiving the mark , cannot buy or sell (rev 13:16-17) vs. Remember the Sabbath, do not work (nor buy/sell) ( exo 20:8)

Christianity is very good on the last six commandments..

Because of the RCC, christianity and judaism are a little fuzzy on the first four..

If one sets their work and worship life with Rome as their guide ( which is easy to do because they created the calendar) then Rome need not he your home church to be infected..

Rome has itself, their own ‘version’ of the ten commandments.
They have themselves have erased the ‘image’ commandment as a separate commandment.

They have changed the sabbath and even have cause Jews to accept the roman calendar when determining their sabbath that conflicts with what they were taught in the wilderness.

Jews, Jews for christ, Mormons, catholics, Hebrew roots, protestants...

They are all affected.. people are either obeying His commandments or they are allowing Rome to lead them to breaking those commandments..

Nobody has enough vacation time or PTO when His Sabbath falls on the world’s work days during His year.

The phrase Jesus is Lord takes on new meaning when one studies Hebrew and sees that Baal is a Hebrew word for master,owner or Lord..

Of course, Lord is a substitute name throughout the English bibles for our Heavenly Father’s name instead of His real name..

Christianity worship today has their own Baal and Ashtaroth.. sun worship isn’t new.. it is ancient..

There is only one name under heaven by which man can be saved..that is what the bile says.. so a name is important..

And considering YHWH gave His name, Yah, To His Son, it is important..
Hoshea by itself means salvation in Hebrew. Yahshua in Hebrew means Yahweh’s salvation. Moses did the same thing to his servant , Hoshea, the son of Nun, when he called him Yahshua (Joshua).. Numbers 13:16

Moses’ servants name changed from ‘salvation’ to ‘Yahweh’s salvation’ with the letter that begins our Father’s name (that has been hidden due to translators)

The 144,000 sealed are not going to have ‘Lord’ and Jesus on their foreheads just because bible translators have made those words important.. Hebrew has no J... neither does the Father or the Son’s name.

The names are important...

And it may just be the difference between worshipping Baal or worshipping YHWH, the True Elohim..

The story of Jesus being raised on easter Sun’s day instead of the Feast of First Fruits explains a lot.. especially since according to Israel this year, that was a Gregorian Wednesday since Passover was on a Gregorian Monday..

Sun worship isn’t new.. it has been adopted by Christianity.. it represents, each week, the saviors resurrection.
According to His calendar and Israel’s occasional observance of it- this year, resurrection Sunday was a gregorian Wednesday..

but that didnt stop ‘Mary’ for coming down to people and calling her son by a name not around when she gave birth to her son... seemed awful weird since she was an eye and ear witness as scripture says to the real Hebrew name.. that probably isn’t a question Catholics or protestants think about.. but, what’s in a name?

And considering there is no J in Hebrew, HalleluYah may not make the spelling sticklers happy, but saying Yah would seem to be a norm as opposed to halleluYey or Jaw like many spell it..
