ROME (CNN) Using strikingly open language, a new Vatican report says the church should welcome and appreciate gays, and offers a solution for divorced and remarried Catholics who want to receive Communion.
Regarding homosexuals, it went so far as to pose the question whether the church could accept and value their sexual orientation without compromising Catholic doctrine, said John Thavis, a former Rome bureau chief for Catholic News Service.
The Rev. James Martin, an author and Jesuit priest, called the report's language on gays and lesbians "revolutionary."
Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community. Are we capable of welcoming these people, guaranteeing to them a fraternal space in our communities? Often they wish to encounter a church that offers them a welcoming home. Are our communities capable of providing that, accepting and valuing their sexual orientation, without compromising Catholic doctrine on the family and matrimony?

They’re just preparing to replace all the excommunicated creationists.
The article QUOTES from the report:

I have not seen the referenced Vatican report and CNN is a questionable messenger concerning such a report imo.
Note that Romans 1:26-27 bluntly condemns same-sex sexual relationships in NT times.
And not only does Matthew 18:15-17 show that Jesus taught that a congregation is ultimately to show zero tolerance for unrepentant sinners, 1 Corinthians 5 gives an example of a sexual offender that should have been kicked out of the congregation.
In fact, not only does 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 tell Christians “do not be deceived” about the consequences of things which include sexual immorality, but 1 Corinthians 5:11 tells Christians not even to eat with such people.
So if what is being said about the referenced report is true then the Catholic Church no longer has the things of God in mind, imo, but the things of men as Jesus reprimanded Peter for in Matthew 16:23.

“nutty ideas” is not necessarily limited to homosexual acceptance. The point is that the leftist elements use these forums to propose their leftist ideas.
For example, the ordination of women was prominent in the 2012 Synod because the theme was “New Evangelisation for the Transmission of the Christian Faith”.
This is probably the first time that acceptance of homosexual orientation was proposed, because a lot has changed in the secular world since 2012.

Read it and weep:
“Welcoming homosexual persons
Homosexuals have gifts and qualities to offer to the Christian community: are we capable of welcoming these people, guaranteeing to them a fraternal space in our communities? Often they wish to encounter a Church that offers them a welcoming home. Are our communities capable of providing that, accepting and valuing their sexual orientation, without compromising Catholic doctrine on the family and matrimony?
The question of homosexuality leads to a serious reflection on how to elaborate realistic paths of affective growth and human and evangelical maturity integrating the sexual dimension: it appears therefore as an important educative challenge. The Church furthermore affirms that unions between people of the same sex cannot be considered on the same footing as matrimony between man and woman. Nor is it acceptable that pressure be brought to bear on pastors or that international bodies make financial aid dependent on the introduction of regulations inspired by gender ideology.
Without denying the moral problems connected to homosexual unions it has to be noted that there are cases in which mutual aid to the point of sacrifice constitutes a precious support in the life of the partners. Furthermore, the Church pays special attention to the children who live with couples of the same sex, emphasizing that the needs and rights of the little ones must always be given priority.”
If this indeed is the correct statement coming out of the synod then it will have tragic consequences for the RCC.
I am a Catholic and this news makes me want to weep, BUT as a catholic I remember to keep my eyes on one thing...Jesus’ real presence in the eucharist.
Sounds like if you don’t like something about the church, just hang around. It might change.
Uh........NO!
Come back, Benedict!
Looks like its back to the catacombs or similar to secretly celebrate the Eucharist for us Roman Catholics again...
Well, that’s easy to fix!
Just change Church doctrine. It’s up for a vote, isn’t it?
If they are afflicted with the illness, but resist the temptation to act upon it, welcome them and pray for them. If they act upon it then repent and stop acting upon it, forgive them and pray for them. If they act upon it and do not seek redemption, tell them of the error of their ways and pray for them.
As it should be with and for all of us sinners.
Nope. Our priest at mass Sunday mentioned that these things had been said. He stated the facts, but was not clear about his personal feelings or opinion about them.
If they do this I’m going Eastern Orthodox.
Don’t look to the church. Look up to The Savior.
Anybody that takes at face value anything the MSM reports about anything having to do with Christianity deserves to be stupid.
That is a question? The Church can accept an adulterer, a thief, and even a murderer. Jesus made a special effort to reach out to sinners, and the Church should follow that example (obviously). What we cannot do is revise the Bible based on contemporary fads. Christians have to trust that God got it right when he inspired Moses, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, Paul, and James. If God wants the Bible revised, we know that He will make that need perfectly clear.
