Why would intelligent, successful people give up their careers, alienate their friends, and cause havoc in their families...to become Catholic? Indeed, why would anyone become Catholic?
As an evangelist and author who recently threw my own life into some turmoil by deciding to enter the Catholic Church, I've faced this question a lot lately. That is one reason I decided to make this documentary; it's part of my attempt to try to explain to those closest to me why I would do such a crazy thing.
Convinced isn't just about me, though. I agree....that part about all of our sins being nailed to the cross where they remain eludes them. but if they didn't have this it takes away the need for the priest and the old testament like penance they have to do.
My mother’s Catholic church posted in their bulletin to stop wasting their money at the Indian reservation casinos and penny arcades. Instead the bulletin encouraged parishioners to spend their money at church bingo nights:)

... or, perhaps progressive policies, politicking from the pulpit, and preaching social justice are driving some away. Recently during Mass, I wasn’t told who to vote for but what the progressive “values” should be.
Deflecting a question with another unrelated question; an accusation or assertion to digress from the discussion topic; bold assertions repeated often after being refuted.
Correct I noticed it as well.
It seems the greatest tool in the Alinsky tool bag is to continue repeating an unfounded assertion often and people start thinking it is fact. Fact meaning since someone repeats it so often it must be true.
The current US DoJ would be proud.
And another you will see is someone complaining another does not provide enough links for sources even though they never click on them.

This sounds like an opinion instead of a fact.
The comment about hell is not true for a believer.
Yeah I’m not divorced. Been married to the same wonderful lady I met in HS. We have kids too...just answering the next papist question:)

next time, try reading why and using some logic, and none of what you mention is used in the daily liturgy/mass. where was your “religion” 1500 years ago?
I don't know but Christianity has been around since 30 AD or so.
The real question is are you with Christ today or Rome?
I follow that Catholic document called the Holy Bible and believe everything in it. Is there another Bible?
I already know why. The Catholic Church tries to justify it right on their sites. But let's see what God says about that.
