Why would anyone become Catholic?

Why would intelligent, successful people give up their careers, alienate their friends, and cause havoc in their families...to become Catholic? Indeed, why would anyone become Catholic?

As an evangelist and author who recently threw my own life into some turmoil by deciding to enter the Catholic Church, I've faced this question a lot lately. That is one reason I decided to make this documentary; it's part of my attempt to try to explain to those closest to me why I would do such a crazy thing.

Convinced isn't just about me, though. The film is built around interviews with some of the most articulate and compelling Catholic converts in our culture today, including Scott Hahn, Francis Beckwith, Taylor Marshall, Holly Ordway, Abby Johnson, Jeff Cavins, Devin Rose, Matthew Leonard, Mark Regnerus, Jason Stellman, John Bergsma, Christian Smith, Kevin Vost, David Currie, Richard Cole, and Kenneth Howell. It also contains special appearances by experts in the field of conversion such as Patrick Madrid and Donald Asci.

Ultimately, this is a story about finding truth, beauty, and fulfillment in an unexpected place, and then sacrificing to grab on to it. I think it will entertain and inspire you, and perhaps even give you a fresh perspective on an old faith.

All I’m saying is I did not find any of those times when the question “then why in the world did (Catholics) kill others for wanting their own copy of the Bible.” I don’t believe the answer has posted. Perhaps you could be a dear and share it with us. A link or two would be nice.

how about this...Catholics were the only Christians on earth...suddenly along came some who would attempt to spread a false interpretation of the bible...as the ONLY guardians and protectors of the truth, it probably made them very nervous about liars and they acted accordingly.

But you would believe that He would cause His disciples to sin by breaking the law by drinking real blood?

Jesus is GOD...He makes the laws.....

Because y’all do not have the facts to back up what y’all say. Otherwise, y’all would be eager to share that information with us.

You are wrong. I have the facts. I will not post them here to be used a springboard for prot rants. I offered YOU specifically to Freepmail me with any specific incidence and I would be glad to give you the facts. YOU declined.

Our Father Who art in Heaven......."I and the Father are one....when you have seen Me you have seen the Father".......What's your problem????

What????? So He makes the law then tells His apostles to sin by breaking it? And tells them to get others to break the law?

doesn't work that way, even in this day and age...for example, the president of the United States cannot violate the law against divulging classified information....if he divulges it, it is no longer classified..simple as that. If Jesus told His diciples to do something,it couldn't possibly violate any so called law.

>>If Jesus told His diciples to do something,it couldn't possibly violate any so called law.<<

Leviticus 7:27 Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.

Leviticus 17:10 And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

God made the law and was pretty clear about what would be done to anyone who ate blood. Now you want us to believe that Jesus broke that law and told others to do so.

Alert!!!

... the ONLY guardians and protectors of the truth,

Pope Stephen VI (896–897), who had his predecessor Pope Formosus exhumed, tried, de-fingered, briefly reburied, and thrown in the Tiber.[1]

Pope John XII (955–964), who gave land to a mistress, murdered several people, and was killed by a man who caught him in bed with his wife.

Pope Benedict IX (1032–1044, 1045, 1047–1048), who "sold" the Papacy

Pope Boniface VIII (1294–1303), who is lampooned in Dante's Divine Comedy

Pope Urban VI (1378–1389), who complained that he did not hear enough screaming when Cardinals who had conspired against him were tortured.[2]

Pope Alexander VI (1492–1503), a Borgia, who was guilty of nepotism and whose unattended corpse swelled until it could barely fit in a coffin.[3]

Pope Leo X (1513–1521), a spendthrift member of the Medici family who once spent 1/7 of his predecessors' reserves on a single ceremony[4]

Pope Clement VII (1523–1534), also a Medici, whose power-politicking with France, Spain, and Germany got Rome sacked.

Move along. No false doctrine being portrayed here...

he will not post them here,

he will not post them there,

he will not post them anywhere

would he, could he, defend them with the Book

would he, could he, defend them with a look

not with the Book; not with a look,

we should let this catholic be.

Are your scissors looking for some scripture to cut up?

That's rich coming from a single verse to support all their doctrines Catholic.

Taken out of context Scripture is the mainstay of Catholic doctrine.

Wild and crazy story. But this isn't infallible Church dogma we're talking about. These represent the actions of imperfect yet pious, zealous Catholics of a different era.

And where is the church censure for such actions?

By failing to take action and speak out, it becomes complicit and gives its approval.

Remaining silent is taking a stand for something. It's not a neutral position.
