Why would intelligent, successful people give up their careers, alienate their friends, and cause havoc in their families...to become Catholic? Indeed, why would anyone become Catholic?
As an evangelist and author who recently threw my own life into some turmoil by deciding to enter the Catholic Church, I've faced this question a lot lately. That is one reason I decided to make this documentary; it's part of my attempt to try to explain to those closest to me why I would do such a crazy thing.
Convinced isn't just about me, though. The film is built around interviews with some of the most articulate and compelling Catholic converts in our culture today, including Scott Hahn, Francis Beckwith, Taylor Marshall, Holly Ordway, Abby Johnson, Jeff Cavins, Devin Rose, Matthew Leonard, Mark Regnerus, Jason Stellman, John Bergsma, Christian Smith, Kevin Vost, David Currie, Richard Cole, and Kenneth Howell. It also contains special appearances by experts in the field of conversion such as Patrick Madrid and Donald Asci.
Ultimately, this is a story about finding truth, beauty, and fulfillment in an unexpected place, and then sacrificing to grab on to it. I think it will entertain and inspire you, and perhaps even give you a fresh perspective on an old faith.

THANKS for the heads up. It was good to see Scott Hahn again.

That is a great trailer!
Can't wait to see the movie when it comes out, with all those great convert interviews (and others they are still looking to interview).
Be careful. You may sent her to the HTML color chart and start getting things in purple and orange. Sigh, we can’t even do backgrounds anymore, let alone scrolls. Oh well, this site is about WORDS, innit?
I doubt that your old Church still has you on their rolls.
When you are baptized as a Catholic an indelible mark is left on your soul. Were you also confirmed? Another indelible mark on your soul.
Please sit down with a priest and get your questions answered.
God bless you.
Not only, but per usual, numbers vs. percentage is used, so that since the world population is growing so also the average number of RCs, though in percentage, which is what is pertinent, it has remained basically steady.
In 1910, Catholics comprised about half (48%) of all Christians and 17% of the worlds total population, according to historical estimates from the World Christian Database. A century later, the Pew Research study found, Catholics still comprise about half (50%) of Christians worldwide and 16% of the total global population.
In 1910, Europe was home to about two-thirds of all Catholics, and nearly nine-in-ten lived either in Europe (65%) or Latin America (24%). By 2010, by contrast, only about a quarter of all Catholics (24%) were in Europe. The largest share (39%) were in Latin America and the Caribbean. - http://www.pewforum.org/2013/02/13/the-global-catholic-population/
Yet i believe the % of Protestants WW has dropped, though the % of committed Caths vs committed Prots. is greater. http://www.firstthings.com/web-exclusives/2013/04/protestant-perseverance-and-catholic-decline
Pick me!! Pick Me!!! ****raises hand****
Okay I wanted to be Catholic well since I was six years old (long story) but when I was 15 I told my Baptist youth pastor that “I wanted to be Catholic” and he told me “You’re on the road to hell if you do”.
How putting things in writing comes back to bite them. No wonder they wait until they are forced to.
Because faithful 1st Christians would not, due to what is shown above ,
And was raised devout, and later was manifestly born again with its profound heart and life changes, yet remained in practice a very faithful RC for 6 years, including serving as a CCD teacher and lector.
But the Lord led me out quite manifestly into evangelical faith, which decision He abundantly affirmed, though i am still in need of much growth in grace. Bless God.
That sadly is most usually the case, yet it is also true in many Prot churches.
He can be a preterist and still be Catbikic.?
Save your time. Too much length, vitriol, bombast and “truth” for me to digest this evening...or any other time, for that matter. I will join (or not join) whatever church I want and I would suggest you do the same.
“So we got something in common.”
We’ve got lots in common.
Humorous and inspiring, thank you for sharing.
Your post is the biggest bunch of garbage I’ve read in a while. So the majority of Catholics, to include priests, bishops, and the Pope are liberal pro-abortion, queer-marriage heretics?
Just another Catholic bashing bigot that lives to put down the Church, another all-knowing protestant authority on the Catholic Church.
You’re not very good at mind-reading.
“That sadly is most usually the case, yet it is also true in many Prot churches.”
That man just blurted those words out to me in a mean, angry voice. He never had me sit down and asked me “why?”. Think about it, a kid wants to leave the place and the pastor does not think to ask “why?”. By saying those words to me, they way he said them, he might as well have looked at me said “get the ____ out” and pointed to the door. That is how I took it. I knew where I was not wanted.
You see that youth pastor was young, immature, inexperienced and even my parents later said was not who they would have chosen for youth pastor, but no use in crying over spilled mitocondria.
Take time for eternal life. Show men any abusive or venomous language or bombast, or otherwise where what i stated was not true. You blithe dismissal of what exposes the bombast or Rome is revealing. As Paul said,
And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein: (Acts 14:15)
Got it. The context and attitude helps.
So why’d He lead you out (of the Church started by Jesus Christ himself 2000 years ago) and not the rest of us Catholics? Does He love you more or something?
