Jesus compared His being lifted up on the cross, that is, His death, to Moses lifting up the serpent in the wilderness, when He said to Nicodemus:... And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life .....(John 3:14-15). As stated...those events were/are a foreshadow of Christ Jesus....they point to Him....further the commandments hadn't been given yet....they were still "wandering" after leaving Egypt...and further the entire old testament is about Israel....and spoken to them. We learn by their experiences and the record of....
What else do you propose that someone use?
How convenient....
Since no answer will be forthcoming from a Catholic, they were commanded to look at it. Never commanded to bow before it and pray to it.
He sure had plenty to say to Israel for doing this stuff....
Deut. 12:3-4:
And you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and burn their wooden images with fire; you shall cut down the carved images of their gods and destroy their names from that place....You shall not worship the LORD your God with such things.
That's exactly right...but catholics miss the whole point as they use it to justify there practices....twist and yank scriptures any way possible to integrate them into their false teachings/practices... about idols and relics.
What would the church do without all these cluttering their churches and basements...no to mention their properties.?
They ‘claim’ these do not have the significance they do...yet they're “everywhere” in their life!
It's like an adultress saying they're just friends with the person they're sleeping with...they believe their own nonsense.
...”we dont worship any of these”....
The Hebrew word for idolatry means to bow down or genuflect is to worship Tishtacheweh...... To bow down or genuflect as an ‘act’ of worship. ....(7812 shachah (shaw-khaw);...a primitive root; ..to depress, ...i.e. prostrate (especially reflexive,.. in homage to royalty or God):.. bow (self) down, crouch, .fall down (flat),.. humbly beseech,.. do (make) obeisance,.. do reverence,... make to stoop, worship.)
Still reading Catholic minds on mass, prots are amazing, feel free to have the last word.
“And yet; the chief complaint some FR catholics have about OTHER catholics is that they are ‘poorly catechized’.”
True, but poorly catechized about the faith is not the same thing as “poorly educated about just about everything else”.
They pointed to Jesus.
Jesus said so.
Next question?
Bueller?
2 Kings 18:3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did. 4 He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.
And wasn't very happy when they started burning incense to the brazen serpent either.
"I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast....
The woman was clothed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls,......
..... having in her hand a gold cup full of abominations and of the unclean things of her immorality,......
5and on her forehead a name was written, a mystery, "BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH."
Only the Lonely [Roy Orbison]
Remember all the times catholic teachings mention "Mystery"...such as with the Mystery of the Eucharist.....There's the "Mystery" of this and that throughout their teachings.
Also note the following totally about 'the church' without any reference to Jesus Christ wanting this unity they speak of nor His part in it....
"The Church" is the sacrament of men's inner union with God. She is also the sacrament of the unity of the human race because man's unity is rooted in God.... At the end of time, she will gather men "from all tribes and peoples and tongues" (Rev 7:9)..... In her present state, she is a sign of a unity yet to come.... She is "the visible plan of the love of God who desires that the whole human race become one People of God".... (Pope Paul VI).
That little feller made me laugh out loud!
BTW Remember I asked where the largest collection of catholic relics are outside of the vatican? ...well it’s Pittsbugh Pa. at one of the catholic churches there...I forgot the name..but some old Priest decided to spend his life and wealth “rescuing” these relics. It’s chucked full of them!
ROTFLOL....that works!
Is there no end to their arrogance? It would seem not. Putting Christ in the background seems to be pervasive. Of course that is what Satan strives for.
Those not educated 'about everything else' are in a better place before God then those even well catechized in the catholic faith and traditions.
