"The use of temples, and these dedicated to particular saints, and ornamented on occasions with branches of trees; incense, lamps, and candles; votive offerings on recovery from illness; holy water; asylums; holy days and seasons, use of calendars, processions, blessings on the fields, sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure, the ring in marriage, turning to the East, images at a later date, perhaps the ecclesiastical chant, and the Kyrie Eleison, are all of pagan origin, and sanctified by their adoption into the Church." (Essay on the Development of Christian Doctrine, John Henry Newman)
The missionary history of the [Catholic] Church clearly shows her adaptability to all races, all continents, all nations. In her liturgy and her art, in her tradition and the forming of her doctrine, naturally enough she includes Jewish elements, but also elements that are of pagan origin. In certain respects, she has copied her organization from that of the Roman Empire, has preserved and made fruitful the philosophical intuitions of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, borrowed from both Barbarians and the Byzantine Roman Empirebut always remains herself, thoroughly digesting all elements drawn from external sources...In her laws, her ceremonies, her festivals and her devotions, she makes use of local customs after purifying them and "baptizing" them. (Twentieth Century Encyclopedia of Catholicism)
Deuteronomy 12:30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. 31 Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God:

What???.....
Did you not read what I posted??? What does your reply have to do with anything that was written?.. Which had nothing to do with the Eucharist.
Furthermore...you began your response by immediately explaining what else “The Church” does.
.................................................
Folks this is exactly the evidence of what is is to be fully indoctrinated/brainwashed to where ones “canned” responses flow regardless if they are understood or not, or in context...they just spew them out there.... Amazing really!
So?
Of course not!
It's a big waste of time!
I guess THAT settles it then!

"In a world where there is so much noise, so much bewilderment, there is a need for silent adoration of Jesus concealed in the Host. Be assiduous in the prayer of adoration and teach it to the faithful. It is a source of comfort and light, particularly to those who are suffering. With the Synod Assembly, therefore, I heartily recommend to the Church's pastors and to the People of God the practice of Eucharistic Adoration, both individually and in community." -Pope Benedict XVI, February 22, 2007, Sacramentum Caritatis, Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation.

...”Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God”....
....Unless Rome says otherwise...They truly see Rome/Pope as ‘their authority’....such a shame, and so very sad......they serve a very small and shallow god-head of their own design and creation. The more I learn about the catholic church the darker it gets.
It made sense to me; go climb a bush.
It’s all they have. That put their entire faith in what the CC has told them they look no further.
The host is an idol which Catholics admit they worship.
I can save 'the church' a LOT of 'work'.
'Canonize' NO one. It is not doing a thing except wasting time.
Why?
These men were following Satan's orders; but you Catholics do not 'care'.
Pope Stephen VI (896897), who had his predecessor Pope Formosus exhumed, tried, de-fingered, briefly reburied, and thrown in the Tiber.[1]
Pope John XII (955964), who gave land to a mistress, murdered several people, and was killed by a man who caught him in bed with his wife.
Pope Benedict IX (10321044, 1045, 10471048), who "sold" the Papacy
Pope Boniface VIII (12941303), who is lampooned in Dante's Divine Comedy
Pope Urban VI (13781389), who complained that he did not hear enough screaming when Cardinals who had conspired against him were tortured.[2]
Pope Alexander VI (14921503), a Borgia, who was guilty of nepotism and whose unattended corpse swelled until it could barely fit in a coffin.[3]
Pope Leo X (15131521), a spendthrift member of the Medici family who once spent 1/7 of his predecessors' reserves on a single ceremony[4]
Pope Clement VII (15231534), also a Medici, whose power-politicking with France, Spain, and Germany got Rome sacked.
Oh?
They manage to hand wave the above away quite well...
The original article is standard-issue drivel, whether the author was raised in the Church and educated by the Jesuits or not. And the IBT reporterette managed to turn the drivel into authentic tech-support gibberish. I don’t think anybody on this thread, on either side of the argument, would be able to understand for sure what she was trying to say without looking at the original article. She clearly couldn’t understand what she was trying to say even with the article. It really is as if Sacha Baron Cohen started writing anti-Catholic tracts as Borat.
Names...
Be sure to pick a good one...
