Pray For Our American Heroes and Our Nation
The War of 1812
No king is saved by the size of his army;
no warrior escapes by his great strength.
A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;
despite all its great strength it cannot save.
But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him,
on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
to deliver them from death
and keep them alive in famine.
Psalm 33:16-19 (NIV)

200 years ago, September 13/14, 1814 - The Battle of Fort McHenry
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

It's been 200 years since the lyrics were written.
As we move into the 21st century,
the last line of our National Anthem still ends with this question:
Oh, say, does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
And it's a question each coming generation needs to answer.
------------------------------
Heavenly Father
As the 200th anniversary approaches for the Star Spangled Banner, may we give thanks for Your Providence in preserving our nation against formidable enemies. We pray we are not cast aside and we may still be used as an instrument of Your grace in the world.
May we repent of our sins as we live as if You do not exist. May we only fear You, so we need not fear any man. Fill us with Your Spirit and spark a revival in our land and bring us healing.
Keep all our heroes, who fight the battles on all fronts physically, morally, and spiritually. Shield them in Your special care. May Your presence dwell in them and give them strength in the power of Your Spirit.
In Jesus Name we pray,
Amen
-----------
Give thanks to the LORD,
for he is good;
his love endures forever.
Psalm 118:1 (NIV)
Keep praying for America

Save us, LORD our God,

The Small Giant
Sept 12, 2014
Read: 1 Samuel 17:32-37
The towering enemy strides into the Valley of Elah. He stands 9 feet tall, and his coat of armor, made of many small bronze plates, glimmers in the sunlight. The shaft of his spear is wrapped with cords so it can spin through the air and be thrown with greater distance and accuracy. Goliath looks invincible.
But David knows better. While Goliath may look like a giant and act like a giant, in contrast to the living God he is small. David has a right view of God and therefore a right view of the circumstances. He sees Goliath as one who is defying the armies of the living God (1 Sam. 17:26). He confidently appears before Goliath in his shepherds clothes, armed with only his staff, five stones, and a sling. His confidence is not in what he has but in who is with him (v.45).
What Goliath are you facing right now? It may be an impossible situation at work, a financial difficulty, or a broken relationship. With God all things are small in comparison. Nothing is too big for Him. The words of the hymnwriter Charles Wesley remind us: Faith, mighty faith, the promise sees, and looks to that alone; laughs at impossibilities, and cries it shall be done. God is able to deliver you if thats His desire, and He may do so in ways you dont expect.
Not to the strong is the battle,
Not to the swift is the race;
Yet to the true and the faithful
Victory is promised through grace. Crosby
Dont tell God how big your giants are. Tell your giants how big your God is.
David was young at the time he faced Goliath, so his courage in confronting the giant is impressive. His confidence was in God and was based on His actions in the past. David considered the heroic actions of his shepherding days (17:34-35) as victories of the Lord (v.37). His boldness was encouraged by the faithful strength of God.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!
GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE
"Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod" William Billings Mixed District Choir, Fairfax, Virginia (Click)
IN THE COLDEST and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered his prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting Glory, and bestowed His Manifold Blessings upon the new Nation.

FROM THE BRAVE, albeit weary, ill-equipped, and untrained volunteers who marched into Valley Forge on 19 December 1777 arose, with the help of some gallant friends from across the waves, the cohesive fighting force that became the United States Army, global defender of Freedom and scourge of Tyrants.
AS GENERAL WASHINGTON lifted his prayers on high in that bleak Winter, let our prayers now rise like a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and gather them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

HEAVENLY FATHER, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these valiant men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your Loving Embrace, that You cause Your Countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.
