I know for a fact that many Baptist and Methodist churches used to intentionally bury their dead around their church buildings. Many of those churches surrounded by graves still dot our American landscape.
Too bad they didn’t spend all that headstone money, embalmment money, funeral service money, and flower money on “the living to demonstrate the love of Christ to a lost and dying world.”
Believe me when I say that churches do not spend a dime burying people. We, family members, do that Some of my relatives/friends/ancestors are buried at church cemeteries. The ones my family associates with were given the land for both the church and cemetery. I have seen records of some of these churches—20 in attendance and less than $20 in collection which may cover the bills the churches pay each month.
I agree.
Luke 9:60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
How do you do it in your church?
It’s not the same thing at all and I don’t think any reasonable person would think so.
What to you purpose people do then if not bury them?
Throw the bodies out back and let them rot in the sun?
Too bad they didnt spend all that headstone money, embalmment money, funeral service money, and flower money on the living to demonstrate the love of Christ to a lost and dying world.
Yeah, they could have propped up rotting corpses around the sanctuary and saved money!
