Msgr. Pope does not treat Denial of Communion, which is not excommunication. It isn’t a penalty at all. Rather, Denial of Communion is simply to REFRAIN from committing the mortal sin of GIVING Communion to people whose reception of Communion will cause grave scandal.

Because giving Communion to manifest grave sinners is a mortal sin, no bishop has the authority NOT to deny Communion to those committing manifest grave sins, which, of course, includes all those nominal Catholics who publicly support the “legality” of abortion.

Prudential judgment has its place when it’s a question of imposing a penalty. Prudential judgment has no role when the question is: Shall I commit a mortal sin?

The USCCB’s official policy, since 2004, is that a bishop may “legitimately” choose to give Communion to pro-abortion politicians. In other words, our bishops’ conference is on record, officially, in writing, as saying that a bishop may “legitimately” commit mortal sin.

When an entire conference of CATHOLIC BISHOPS comes out, officially, in writing, in favor of mortal sin, we have a problem.

Cardinal Burke’s famous, thorough treatment of this subject is available here:

**It is simply too serious a situation to leave a sinner of this magnitude uninstructed, unrebuked, or in any way unclear as to the gravity of the matter. The sinner should be instructed—yes, warned vividly—to repent at once and to refrain from Holy Communion until confession can be celebrated following true repentance.**

Viva la Monsignor. Pope!

I have to go to Mass where he is at some point. Seems like it’s quite a drive but probably well worth it to hear homilies as this.

I read this and wonder how I will ever make it past my own judgement in the moments after my death.

Thank you Msgr. Pope! God bless you!

This homily ties in with his recent article about the St. Patrick's Parade in NYC. The complicity of Cardinal Dolan in that virtual endorsement of an anti-Catholic group which, as active homosexuals and promoters of sinful homosexual behaviors, is a pro-mortal-sin group working for Satan's goals, is utterly shameful and disgraceful.

Dolan should be removed immediately from his high office.   Like Caiaphas, the Jewish High Priest in the Jerusalem Temple who was so anti-Jesus, Dolan is misusing his high office, and harming the Catholic Church of Jesus Christ.

Earlier this year, "EWTN" broadcast a series of shows during Lent by Cardinal Dolan, and Dolan has been prominantly featured on other Catholic TV and radio shows as well recently, such as the "Teresa Tomeo" show.   If they wish to continue to receive my own support, these public Catholic media folks should carefully reconsider their support and promotion of an individual who is using his position of high authority within the Church to give his tacit (and sometimes not so tacit) stamp of approval to highly sinful (anti-God) behaviors. I would urge others to contact EWTN, Teresa Tomeo, and other public entities and figures like that, to make known your views about Cardinal Dolan's recent strange comments and actions on various shows and outlets.

In another thread here, another FReeper (Berlin_Freeper) posted a link which underscores some of those points. Here is that link again, for anyone who might have missed it in that other thread:

BREAKING: NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade Goes Gay - Dolan Cheers!

Cardinal Dolan is starting to sound more like one of those anti-Catholic, pro-sin, Anglican/Episcopalian clergy, such as Bishop Gene Robinson and Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori. If we can't get Dolan to see the light, perhaps we can get him to transfer himself to the Anglican/Episcopal church, where his erroneous views will be compatible with their erroneous teachings.
