why would God put his only Son in a sinfull woman, think people think
Mary was sinless
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Only the Saviour was, and is, perfect.
Though blessed among women, I would not pray to her. She did not die for my sin, and Scripture gives no instruction to worship the earthly being that was chosen to bring forth the Son of God.
If there is such Scripture, I would truly like to know about it.
Anybody in America who knows how to read should know that Catholics do not deify Mary. Luke 1:28 a verse Catholics rightly use to support her sinlessness. He might disagree with that interpretation but that verse exists.
I agree, too
From the text of the Mass... again...
"Into their [those already in Heaven] company we beseech Thee admit us, not considering our merits, but freely pardoning our offenses. Through Christ our Lord."
NOT considering our merits. How much more explicit can the Church be?!
Seewald was still not through expressing his disappointment with the Catholic tradition.
"I DO have a problem with the teaching that man can come to God through Mary or any other person besides Jesus I DO have a problem with the deification of Mary as a sinless being. Mary herself admitted her need for a Savior. If she had no sin, she would need no Savior," he concluded.

As a Catholic, I may disagree with him (and he with me), but his posts are not “anti-Catholic.”
It’s a theological disagreement, and, bluntly, one that is not relevant to a person’s ultimate destination.
Close your eyes and just THINK WHY GOD would have HIS ONLY SON be BORN of a SINFILLED WOMAN!!!! It's really ridiculous.....even my Jewish husband understands it.
How did he get the right to limit the powers of God?
“What I DO have a problem with is the teaching that man can merit God’s favor through his own works or the works of other fallen men.”
Uh, who teaches that? The Catholic Church does not teach that we merit anything BY OUR OWN WORKS. The works are God’s. We cooperate with them.
I agree with him, as well.
Those are not “anti-Catholic” statements. They are simply Protestant. I don’t agree with him, which is one reason I am Catholic, and in fact he gets some of what Catholics believe wrong, but it’s not fair to say his statements are anti-Catholic. This is like when McCain tried to slime Bush for appearing at Bob Jones university, claiming that Jones was anti-Catholic when in fact he was Protestant.
The article starts from a typical leftist view that if you disagree with someone you are “anti” them.
As for me I love meeting committed/believing Protestants and discussing/debating these issues. If I meet someone who thinks it’s all the same thing, I’ll just walk away.
Jess is a lucky gal to have found Ben!
Gross and repulsive. You need to just head over to DU where you belong.
If I really cared what a twit like Ben Seewald thinks about me and my religion I might be offended. But since I don’t, I’m not.
The ideas that Ben asserts about Catholic beliefs are distorted. Bishop Fulton Sheen once commented on the fact that many non-Catholics hate the RC Church because they believe so much about the Church that just isn’t so. not so.
I agree with him. Why would he remove the truth?
That’s nice.
Who is Jessa Duggar? Why should her bf be important?
