100 years ago, homosexuality was almost university condemned, as paedophilia is now. 50 years later, the push for the normalisation of homosexuality began in earnest, leading to the situation that exists today. It would be a terrible mistake to assume even dearly held and universal moral values will be perceived as such even a few decades down the line. It is frightening how quickly and how radically society’s moral values have changed in the space of a single lifetime, and there is nothing to suggest this trend will stop any time soon.

You don’t seriously justify polygamy on the basis of past primitive social systems. Human sacrifice and cannibalism have been practiced throughout history, and even today. However, we do not want the roll back civilization to the primitive systems and take humans back to a savage existence.

Legally, given the decisions on homosexual marriage, I don’t see why it wouldn’t. I think both the bigamy and consanguinity laws are on borrowed time right now, and in that order, because there’s less “ick” factor to multiple marriages than incestuous ones. But make no mistake, they’re going to happen. (I think it’s going to create moral, legal and practical chaos, don’t get me wrong, but the legal and judicial professions aren’t paying a whole lot of attention to what I think.)
