The last part of that quote is merely opinion.

Nor did it have to do with the condemnation of the church in the first part of the quote.

The Church beats people and isn’t attractive.

Not very Christlike, therefore, not true and not true to Christ.

Every person can see that Metmom was commenting on the first paragraph of the post and not the "last sentence" which was not part of that paragraph. She said:

And what it did was beat me, but it didn’t draw me, entice me, or lure me by playing upon some deep, latent psychosis or desire on my part for something Protestantism just couldn’t provide. Catholicism went from being so obviously ridiculous that it wasn’t even worth bothering to oppose, to being something whose claims were so audacious that I couldn’t help opposing them. But what it never was, was attractive, and in many ways it still isn’t.

Thanks for the admission. OTOH, JESUS is very attractive. And HE doesn't beat one up. He draws and leads and guides, in gentleness. His yoke is easy and His burden light. He came to set us free, not drag us into bondage but beating us into submission.

Her comment would in no way be changed even IF she included that separate sentence. It's almost comical the lengths some people go to accuse others of evil motives and nefarious purposes while they make bigoted blanket statements that castigate and impugn the motives of an entire faith tradition and call it FACT.
