I know Christians do not recognize Allah as being the same or equal with God or Christ. Allah is viewed as a false god with a false prophet.
Try reading things in context:
The Church and non-Christians
839 “Those who have not yet received the Gospel are related to the People of God in various ways.”325
The relationship of the Church with the Jewish People. When she delves into her own mystery, the Church, the People of God in the New Covenant, discovers her link with the Jewish People,326 “the first to hear the Word of God.”327 The Jewish faith, unlike other non-Christian religions, is already a response to God’s revelation in the Old Covenant. To the Jews “belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ”,328 “for the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.”329
840 And when one considers the future, God’s People of the Old Covenant and the new People of God tend towards similar goals: expectation of the coming (or the return) of the Messiah. But one awaits the return of the Messiah who died and rose from the dead and is recognized as Lord and Son of God; the other awaits the coming of a Messiah, whose features remain hidden till the end of time; and the latter waiting is accompanied by the drama of not knowing or of misunderstanding Christ Jesus.
841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”330
842 The Church’s bond with non-Christian religions is in the first place the common origin and end of the human race:
All nations form but one community. This is so because all stem from the one stock which God created to people the entire earth, and also because all share a common destiny, namely God. His providence, evident goodness, and saving designs extend to all against the day when the elect are gathered together in the holy city. . .331
843 The Catholic Church recognizes in other religions that search, among shadows and images, for the God who is unknown yet near since he gives life and breath and all things and wants all men to be saved. Thus, the Church considers all goodness and truth found in these religions as “a preparation for the Gospel and given by him who enlightens all men that they may at length have life.”332
844 In their religious behavior, however, men also display the limits and errors that disfigure the image of God in them:
Very often, deceived by the Evil One, men have become vain in their reasonings, and have exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and served the creature rather than the Creator. Or else, living and dying in this world without God, they are exposed to ultimate despair.333
845 To reunite all his children, scattered and led astray by sin, the Father willed to call the whole of humanity together into his Son’s Church. The Church is the place where humanity must rediscover its unity and salvation. The Church is “the world reconciled.” She is that bark which “in the full sail of the Lord’s cross, by the breath of the Holy Spirit, navigates safely in this world.” According to another image dear to the Church Fathers, she is prefigured by Noah’s ark, which alone saves from the flood.
Properly viewed the Muslims are christian heretics who deny the Divinity of Christ. But that does not mean that they worship the devil. On the contrary, they worship the one true God. their name for Him may differ from ours, and their understanding may differ from ours but there is only one God who has created everything from nothing. That said there is hope for everyone who is still alive to turn to Jesus who is the Son of God and not just another prophet.
1 Timothy 2:5
John 14:6
Church “doctrine” should never go crosswise of the Scriptures.
For all that, muslim are attempting to render worship to YHVH, to the degree that they understand Him. CCC 841 is basically pointless post-V2 gobbledygook. God's plan of salvation includes all of humanity -- this does NOT mean universal salvation, but rather that God, in some way, provides every person with the opportunity to accept His freely offered grace.
In short, CCC 841 says that God's plan of salvation applies to muslims, as it does to everyone, and that islam is an Abrahamic religion. A pointless reiteration of unrelated points, but hardly the "gotcha" that some Protestants seem to think it is.

Tell a devout Muslim that his Allah is the same as the Judeo/Christian God and you might find your head separated from your body.;-)
Allah is to Yahweh, as Ba’al is to Yahweh. Yahweh is God. Allah is a god. Either God is a person, or He isn’t. If He is a person, with identifiable traits, a definable personality, Yahweh can’t be the same as Allah, not if either one of them are to be believed when they tell us who they are. It’s not a generic “God” thing. Allah can not do what Jesus Christ does, no matter how much Muslims believe in him.
You realize that a major number of cardinals were masons during the pat 100 years and their influence has been broad and wide.
The first pillar of Islam demands that a Muslim must believe that Mohammed is God’s prophet. So right away a person’s idea of God is skewed by this twisted man’s idea of what God is.
It does not.
“On the contrary, they worship the one true God.”
Horse manure... They do no such thing. They can call their lucifer God, but that doesn’t make it so.
Thank you for your response.
Its positively amazing that people read these documents without going into the context.
When someone says the Church teaches “anyone can be saved,” they often read that as saying “everyone is saved” which is erroneous.
Anyone is not everyone. The distinction is as vast as reading potential is from illiteracy.
The Church needs to revisit this. The world has, very regrettably, suffered years of Islamic or islamoNazi aggressions, mass murders, terrorist bombings, threats of genocides, and even crucifixions of Christians by these Satanic monsters. Yes, there may be some Moslems who, despite all these horrible outrages, believe they’re praying to their cultural version of God. But for all the others , let’s be candid. We are taught that we can know a tree by its fruit. The fruit of so much of Islam is death, desecration, and destruction. The fruit being rotten, the tree is not God’s, but rather is Satan’s. Very clearly Satan has millions of agents working for him in the world today, and many or most of them are Islamic.
Protestant beliefs could change any day.
Do keep us posted.
The Koran views the Arabs as the true heirs of Abraham (through Ishmael) and makes constant and worshipful references to the God of the Old Testament Bible. The Koran also contains a mini-gospel of the ministry of Jesus (Isa) and His birth of Mary. It hints, however, that Christ somehow survived the Cross. Islam does not think that Christ is God but it counts Him as a great prophet and miracle worker. In fact, if you talk to a Muslim about Christianity he would be likely to tell you that Muslims are greater friends of Christianity than the Jews, who never recognized the importance of Jesus till maybe in the previous Century, and consider Him an apostate of the Jewish faith. You head will be where it is now.
OK, what about protestants who believe that Jesus was just a great teacher? Or who believe that He didn’t actually mean that we could eat His Body and drink His blood? Do they actually believe that Jesus is the Son of God? Do they offer Him credence? The Muslims are a different sort in that they don’t recognize any authority that can interpret the Koran. I’d say they are somewhat like the Mormons who have their own idea about revelation based upon a book that was given to them by someone other than the men who knew Jesus. Our faith is not of a book alone. We have the testimony and tradition of the Church and the witness of the martyrs to guide us. Jesus said anyone can love those who love them. But He warned us to love our enemies.
Act of Consecration of the Human Race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Most sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us humbly prostrate before Thy altar. We are Thine, and Thine we wish to be; but, to be more surely united with Thee, behold each one of us freely consecrates himself today to Thy Most Sacred Heart. Many indeed have never known Thee; many too, despising Thy precepts, have rejected Thee. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Thy Sacred Heart.
Be Thou King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken Thee, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned Thee; grant that they may quickly return to their Father's house lest they die of wretchedness and hunger.
Be Thou King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions, or whom discord keeps aloof; call them back to the harbor of truth and unity of faith, so that soon there may be but one flock and one Shepherd.
Be Thou King of all those who are still involved in the darkness of idolatry or of Islamism; refuse not to draw them all into the light and kingdom of God. Turn Thine eyes of mercy toward the children of that race, once Thy chosen people: of old they called down upon themselves the Blood of the Savior; may it now descend upon them a laver of redemption and of life.
Grant, O Lord, to Thy Church assurance of freedom and immunity from harm; give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry: Praise to the Divine Heart that wrought our salvation; to It be glory and Honor forever. Amen.
