Ok that’s fair. I just didn’t understand the point of you posting John 6:28-29 to me. I didn’t/don’t see what that had/has to do with what we were discussing.
But no matter. Like I said I don’t want to debate the issue, because for me there is no debate. It’s only in the “invisible church” that there seems to be debate about the issue which again, to me, doesn’t make that “church” look too good.
But I guess that doesn’t matter to someone who doesn’t believe the church plays a role in one’s salvation. Fine. Like I said, good luck with that.
But I don’t see any reason to have a church at all if that’s the case. I guess Jesus just established the “invisible church” for show, which is kind of ironic.
Most people don't.
It wasn't so much to you, specifically, but to those who have had their minds absolutely CLUTTERED with things that they MUST do to gain and/or retain salvation.
Read the verses in context.
You can see that they stand alone.
A role?
Sure, but THE role?
“But I dont see any reason to have a church at all if thats the case. “
The Church should hold up the truth and proclaim the Gospel
The Church is a gathering of those who are saved for worship, fellowship, celebration of the Lord’s Supper
The Church is given teachers, pastors, etc. to build up the body of Christ
The Church is supposed to be a sending ministry to “go to all the world”
The Church is the local visible expression of the universal church
And more.
