I am hearing a lot of people say that the Bible teaches that we are not to judge someone over any issue, they say "God will judge"....
I don't think the Bible teaches it the they are saying and they also say that this is what their preacher teaches....
I'd like to hear from my fellow freepers on this...
Have a blessed Easter...
LOL
Wrong...
Hands down the best ham I’ve ever had. It was a Boar’s Head boneless with their horseradish sugar glaze. There are literally no leftovers!
I hear what you are saying and agree. maybe its just semantics. Just got back from a big family dinner celebrating Easter. God Bless and Happy Easter! He is Risen!
Much of Scripture teaches about good and bad, right and wrong. If a person can't tell the difference between them and then act accordingly, they are often called fools and wrong and bad will find them, perhaps to their eternal discomfort.
We weren't created to sin or to be fools. I also don't think we are supposed to be so "not of the world" that we are of no use in the world. What we think and do has meaning, for us personally, as well as for those who depend upon us.
I could be wrong, but I don't think the following violates the "Thou shalt not judge" rule:
"If someone lies, they are a liar and a fool. Don't vote for them. If you do, you may not be a liar, but you would be a fool."
Depending on my intent, I also don't think it would be sinful to say that to someone I care about who voted for the one known as "obama", if my heart was right when I did it.
What followed saying it might be though, but maybe not for much longer. A few I know quit fighting and now just nod. There's hope!
True, God will judge. However, if our brother or sister is wrong, then we are to correct them.
1 Corinthians 5:12
For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the wicked man from among yourselves
1 Corinthians 6:1-4
Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints? Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life?
1 Corinthians 10:15
I speak as to wise men; you judge what I say.
Revelation2:2
I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false
Revelation 2:20
But I have this against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond- servants astray so that they commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols.
James 4:11
Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it.
Horseradish? Sorry, but that isn’t that appealing to my taste buds. Glad you had a good Easter. Enjoy spring!
To me, it’s easy to get confused about what can or can’t be judged.>>>>
Yes ,it is a slippery slope.
“If someone lies, they are a liar and a fool. Don’t vote for them. >>>>>>
You have that right for sure as long as we make sure what we say is true.
For instance some one might talk about how Obama has screwed everything up, while there is much truth to that it must have already been fairly screwed up, other wise an illegal would not have been elected president to begin with.
So who should we be judging here, Obama, the news media, our representatives in congress or the ones who voted them in.
I also don’t think we are supposed to be so “not of the world” >>>>>
I agree on that also but we must not let it get us down if our way is not excepted and we should not join either side of two arguments that are wrong.
For instance the government of China dictates the number of Children a couple can have, while the U.S actually encourages single women to become unwed mothers and while I think this is an abomination I would not point out any single mother and judge them.
I have an aguaintence who is above seventy who I have known for over fifty years, he is the most judgmental person I have ever saw in my life, he is a life long democrat who has never voted but has always criticized republicans,
He voted for the first time, against Obama, all for the wrong reason.
But yes, I think we need to judge right from wrong but so many judgmental people are so full of them selves that we need to be sure of what we are talking about.
so many judgmental people are so full of them selves
^^This^^ is the key. As near as I can tell, when we are told that a "rich man" will have trouble entering the kingdom of heaven, it's not the money that's the problem, it's his spirit.
Being rich of spirit, being full of ourselves, is usually what gets us into trouble, whereas a humble spirit usually keeps us from trouble.
I have trouble with the concept from time to time and have to read the parable of the Pharisee and the Publican or reread about Job to keep it straight.
we must not let it get us down if our way is not excepted and we should not join either side of two arguments that are wrong.
I had a teacher whose advice was to be an observer rather than a reactor. The older I get, the more I see the wisdom of that advice. T'ain't easy, though. Especially in the playoffs or election season.

When I was 15 or 16 I worked for a rich farmer who owned over 20,000 acres of land scattered over western Kansas.
The day I went to work he told me that he only had one rule that would never change, he said that he had quite a few neighbors, some that he never even knew.
He told me that if any of them came and ask me for help that I was to stop what I was doing and go help them.
He was also paying me a mans wage of $7.50 a day, a week after I started he told me when i thought I was worth ten dollars a day to let him know.
I worked another week and because it scared me to think that if he paid me that much I would be obligated to him for the rest of my life so I quit.
That has been over 60 years ago and when I think of him I get all choked up, not to think of what I threw away but to think of the goodness in a man like that, they can not tell me that a rich man can not be saved.
My job is to make sure that my life is in order NOT to poke around in your life.
I am not a pharisee nor a sadduccee just a simple follower of the One of lived the perfect life, bore all of my iniquity, and rose again to be with the Father
Finally, someone who understands Matthew 5:3. Praise God.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Matthew 6:33
Note that Jesus is talking about 'the kingdom of heaven' - not heaven. Big difference.
Note that Jesus is talking about ‘the kingdom of heaven’ - not heaven. Big difference.
We are to understand good from evil from the Bible and do our best to not sin but Jesus was the only man without sin. Jesus can forgive our sins.
We are not the judges with the power of condemnation of souls. But we can and must express and demonstrate good from evil. God is the only one to judge souls. Jesus is the only one to forgive us and release us from sin as we confess and repent. There is not end to His compassion and mercy. God the Father sacrificed his own son in payment for releasing us from sin’s condemnation.
God Bless you. : )
This is one of the best articles I’ve read on Christians and judging:

I remember how easy it was to give in to a jealous sort of coveting about rich farmers and their kids' toys. I couldn't see the forest or the trees with those 4x4 posts in my eyes.
I was and still am slow to realize that Jesus always has had the best safety glasses. He gives them away for free, too.
