I am hearing a lot of people say that the Bible teaches that we are not to judge someone over any issue, they say "God will judge"....
I don't think the Bible teaches it the they are saying and they also say that this is what their preacher teaches....
I'd like to hear from my fellow freepers on this...
Have a blessed Easter...
Only first hand witnesses cast first stone.
John 7:24 "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.
1 Corinthians 6:2-3 "Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life?"
1 Corinthians 11:31 "But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged."
James 4:11 "Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it."
And the grand-daddy of 'em all, Romans 14:
1 Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions.
2 One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only.
3 The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him.
4 Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
5 One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.
6 He who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and he who eats, does so for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who eats not, for the Lord he does not eat, and gives thanks to God.
7 For not one of us lives for himself, and not one dies for himself;
8 for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lords.
9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that He might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.
10 But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you regard your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God. 11 For it is written,
As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall give praise to God.
12 So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.
13 Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather determine thisnot to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brothers way.
14 I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but to him who thinks anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
15 For if because of food your brother is hurt, you are no longer walking according to love. Do not destroy with your food him for whom Christ died.
16 Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil;
17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
18 For he who in this way serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men.
19 So then we pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another.
20 Do not tear down the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but they are evil for the man who eats and gives offense.
21 It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother stumbles.
22 The faith which you have, have as your own conviction before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.
23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin."
HF
1 Cor 5:11But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindlernot even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church2 whom you are to judge? 13 God judges those outside. Purge the evil person from among you.
IMHO people say we are not to judge just to shut us down. They will say just calling a sin sin we are judging. I think that is not judging but calling an immoral behavior what it is. I can't condemn anyone, which in my mind is part of what judging is.
Do not judge, so that you wont be judged. 2 For with the judgment you use,[a] you will be judged, and with the measure you use,[b] it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you look at the speck in your brothers eye but dont notice the log in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye, and look, theres a log in your eye? 5 Hypocrite! First take the log out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brothers eye. 6 Dont give what is holy to dogs or toss your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them with their feet, turn, and tear you to pieces.
Thank you for your post!
We don’t judge, God does. But we sure have an obligation to teach what we know, in order to help people we love.
Nor locating a millstone and the nearest body of water.
“Judge, and, prepare to be Judged.”
“"Judgment is not necessary."”
Not judging is difficult. This indicates a good chance that it's good advice. It's so satisfying to point out the imperfections of others, especially if one has self-image problems. The rationalization that one is helping or showing love by pointing out to others the error of their ways is more often veiled scolding for self-satisfaction.
Judgment also relates to other deadly sins, pride and jealousy for example.
Judgment can be positive or negative, but it sounds like most only think of it as negative. Explore that the Bible does not differentiate between the two, and neither did the Eastern Philosophers.
I readily admit that I cannot say that I fully understand with specificity what it means to ‘judge not lest ye be judged’. But I will verbalize what it means to me. I can tell someone knowing I have no authority to send anyone, for them to ‘go to .ell’. However, I have no authority to tell someone they are going to .ell’, or judge that is where they will end up going.
I think it means making an assessment of any person’s ultimate end.
Who? Do you mean the Pharisees? The Philistines were the enemies of Israel during King David’s time.
Welcome and maintain your principles with non-believers, but God is their judge.
Verse 6 of the same chapter, Matt 7, says: Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
How do we know who are the dogs or the pigs if we don’t judge?
The term is used differently now than then. We are not to judge in the sense of condemning to eternal hell, we ARE to be discerning.
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
1 John 4:1 (KJV) Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1 Cor 2:15 (KJV) But he that is spiritual judgeth all things...
In first Corinthians Paul is concerned because the church is not exercising judgement within the body.
1 Corinthians 5:12-6:5(AKJV) 12 For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? 13 But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
6 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? 2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? 4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. 5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
Luke 12:57(KJV) Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?
We are also told, "KJV Eze 3:18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand."
But the New Testament tells us not to judge, lest we be judged. So what's the difference?
The kind of judging the Christian should not do is what Jonah did. God told Jonah to go preach to Ninevah. Everyone knew Ninevah was wicked. Neither God nor Johan was wrong to have judged Ninevah and called them wicked. They were.
But Jonah refused to go. Jonah didn't think Ninevah was worthy of God's grace and didn't want to tell them about it. God lets Jonah sit in a belly of a fish and think about his refusal to go to Ninevah. So Jonah goes, but when Ninevah repents, Jonah get's angry. Reach Jonah chapter 4. The whole book of Jonah is small.
That's the kind of judging we are forbidden to do. We are sinners saved not by our works but by God's grace. And so we should never look down on others and consider them unworthy of God's grace.
Jesus also said, Mat 7 to first remove the plank in your own eye so that you can see clearly to remove the speck in your neighbor's eye. Notice he doesn't say it's wrong to try to remove the speck in your neighbor, but to make sure first that you are prepared and have dealt with your own issues.

I'm not sure what "any issue" might mean, but the "don't judge" idea to me is two-fold, cautionary, practical advice.
I'm new at this, but my understanding so far is, God is Judge and no one else. Judging is His job. Why? I can think of several reasons, but mainly because He created all and He's perfect.
We aren't perfect. We're sinners, no matter what our good works, nor what form they may take. We are sinners, each and every one of us.
Our imperfections, as God sees them, make us imperfect, sometimes harmful judges, perhaps even hypocrites, in His view. So, we're not to take God's job and do His judging.
Why? Well, mainly because He said so, but also because everything comes back around, one way or another. It's a part of His rules and how he built the world. There are many ways to say it.
For example, "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us" is one way to say it.
"Judge not, that ye not be judged" is another.
It all comes back around and is used for you or against you. Your call either way. Use your free will wisely.
Personally, I think it can be a very hard rule to follow, especially with politicians.
None the less, Jesus loves us all the same and wants us to be like Him and do as He does, even if that means loving the neighbors who don't "deserve" it, or even those who have earned wrath instead.
If I think of it, I try to remember to take a deep breath, count to 5 or ten or so and remind myself that "He will Judge me, too."
Yet in John 7:24 Jesus says, “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment” hmmm...
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Matthew 6:14-15
Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
Matthew 7:1-2
The bottom line is that we are to trust God to take care of these things. When we judge others, we are effectively saying that we don't trust God to see it and resolve it the way we think it should be done. But the good news is that we still have the opportunity to clean up our past by repenting for our past judgments, turning them over to Him, and declaring our trust in Him to resolve them in the way He sees fit. The truth of the matter is that we don't have full information on anything. But God does.
This “do not judge” crap, I think, started with Phil Donohue on his sad talk show...and is liberalism to the core....if we do not judge, then everything/anything is ok to do, say, act on, adopt, etc.
We judge every day...particularly in court rooms...we live by laws that tell us what is wrong and what is right. No laws = total chaos and results in an uncivilized society...
