The Romans?
Thank you for demonstrating why it is impossible to have an intelligent discussion with non Catholics.
All that scriptural evidence of who the Rock really is yet Catholics rely on one misappropriated verse. So sad. Thank you for posting that.
no, my Bible shows me what God says, not the man in the pulpit or some denomination
And the Bible says that Peter is just a man, a sinful man, not the foundation or rock any more than all 12 disciples
424 Moved by the grace of the Holy Spirit and drawn by the Father, we believe in Jesus and confess: 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.' On the rock of this faith confessed by St. Peter, Christ built his Church. "To preach. . . the unsearchable riches of Christ"
My bible is missing the part where he tells Peter, "Peter You are the rock."
Simply reading what Our Savior spoke reveals he simply told Peter that he was Peter. Peter the denier. Peter the faithless.
Go ahead and kneel to statues of Peter, and pray to him. I'm sure G_d didn't mean it when he wrote the first commandment in stone and gave it to Moses.
Well, who could you possibly mean, then? Why the quotes around “Chosen,” implying doubt?
Because he lives, I have hope! Amen! Jesus is my Rock!
See post 22. and Read Matthew 7:6
I’d still like to clarify the doubt implied by quotation marks around “Chosen,” verga. Jesus Christ was a Jew. His literal executioners were Roman. They placed a mocking sign over His head, “King of the Jews.” Were they mistaken?
My bible is missing the part where he tells Peter, "Peter You are the rock."
Actually, this is easily refuted in Scripture.
One Verse, hardly, nine including Matthew: Joh_1:42 And he brought him to Jesus. And Jesus looking upon him, said: Thou art Simon the son of Jona. Thou shalt be called Cephas, which is interpreted Peter.
That looks oddly like Jesus calling Peter the word for Rock.
1Co_1:12 Now this I say, that every one of you saith: I indeed am of Paul; and I am of Apollo; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
1Co_3:22 For all things are yours, whether it be Paul or Apollo or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. For all are yours.
1Co_9:5 Have we not power to carry about a woman, a sister as well as the rest of the apostles and the brethren of the Lord and Cephas?
1Co_15:5 And that he was seen by Cephas, and after that by the eleven.
Gal_2:9 And when they had known the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship: that we should go unto the Gentiles, and they unto the circumcision:
Gal_2:11 But when Cephas was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
Gal_2:14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly unto the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all: If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of the Gentiles and not as the Jews do, how dost thou compel the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?
Paul was a pretty smart guy, Who according to his own words received his instruction form Jesus and not man. If he recognized Peter as the Rock, why shouldn't we? Obviously no man told him this, it was from Jesus.
See post 22 then read Matthew 7:6.
Lapsing into vain repetition.
And it would be nice if you wouldn’t.
I’ve requested clarification rather than repeating myself, verga. Clarification that is apparently not forthcoming.
What you say is true —and not. The priestly high prayer of Jesus calls for unity, but manifold theologies get in the way.
Sophistry.
I said a Hail Mary with my kids this morning. I can’t imagine, as a mother, what it would have been like to watch my child suffer as she did Jesus. Happy Easter to all, Protestant (like me) and Catholic (like my kids)! Let’s just get along fir one dat, okay?
For later.
