I *should have known better*? Why? Because you thought so?
You yourself just posted that priests and women didn't have face to face confessions? How should I have *known better* then?
And then you admit you hadn't heard of them either for a number of years, until you did as an altar boy.
Did you know of them before that?
If someone had said something to you about face to face confessions before you had heard of them, would you not have denied that they existed?
So just when did this face to face confession thing begin to be *popular*.
You sound like the the guy who temped Christ in the wilderness. Don’t worry, I don’t like your complement ether.
Depends on who you're asking, whether they're Catholic or not.
LOL
I didn't see that. Sure you are not liyng again?
It’s interesting how many posts are allegedly for the greater glory of God when they are hostile and accusing.
Does adding that phrase to posts earn brownie points or something to inflammatory posts to get out of purgatory for posting them in the first place?
For a religious group as a whole who claim to take the words of Jesus so seriously, there is a serious disconnect between their actions and Matthew 5 and 7.........
Well, you got to remember the words of the Muslim pilots who flew in the WTC on 911.
I don’t see any connect with the bible among the Catholics. They seem to deny it.
I forgot to say congratulations on escaping the catholic church. That takes some doing.
It’s all about the catechism. The only use Scripture seems to have for most Catholics is to buttress their claims of church authority and infallibility for non-Catholics who just don’t take only the RCC’s say so of self-proclaimed infallibility and authority as Catholics do.
For Catholics, if the church says it, that’s enough. For non-Catholics, they want more proof, so then the Catholics are FORCED to use Scripture to try to back up their claims. If it weren’t for that, I doubt many or any of them would crack a Bible ever.
Did you notice that the accusations aren’t about being Scripturally illiterate or ignorant either, but being ignorant of the CATECHISM of the Catholic church? I’m accused of being *poorly catechized*, not poorly educated in Scripture.
The Bible is only a tool to be used when there’s nothing left in their arsenal. No wonder they don’t connect with it.
Whippersnapper!
By the grace of God.
There are still beans in the jar...
Like my first attempt at driving a car that had pictures for the controls instead of words.
Very nearly walked!
No LAUGHING!!!
This is series business!
KS,
Took a while but I’m back at home base.
The largest most comprehensive study of the priest scandal was by John Jay School of Criminal Law, a division of College of NY. It is detailed, specific and covered a period of 60 years.
The report some 150 pages gets into the very nitty gritty of the problem of priest abuse is called:
“The Causes and Context of Sexual Abuse of Minors by Catholic Priests in the United States, 1950-2010”
I thought I knew right where that statistic was but I’m on page 31 an am lost in it.
You can down load the entire report here:
http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/child-and-youth-protection/upload/The-Causes-and-Context-of-Sexual-Abuse-of-Minors-by-Catholic-Priests-in-the-United-States-1950-2010.pdf
It is time to put the kids to bed, but I will be getting the specifics of what I discussed.
One thing to note the abuse peaked in the early 70s and is now back to levels it was in the 50s.
One of the reasons is the Criminal background checks anyone who comes in contact with Catholic children goes thru.
More later.
For the Greater Glory of God
I think you are one of “Gods Elect”.
