I don’t see any connect with the bible among the Catholics. They seem to deny it.
It’s all about the catechism. The only use Scripture seems to have for most Catholics is to buttress their claims of church authority and infallibility for non-Catholics who just don’t take only the RCC’s say so of self-proclaimed infallibility and authority as Catholics do.
For Catholics, if the church says it, that’s enough. For non-Catholics, they want more proof, so then the Catholics are FORCED to use Scripture to try to back up their claims. If it weren’t for that, I doubt many or any of them would crack a Bible ever.
Did you notice that the accusations aren’t about being Scripturally illiterate or ignorant either, but being ignorant of the CATECHISM of the Catholic church? I’m accused of being *poorly catechized*, not poorly educated in Scripture.
The Bible is only a tool to be used when there’s nothing left in their arsenal. No wonder they don’t connect with it.
Out darned spot, out I say .
you may have lived in a Catholic neighborhood, but you obviously never attended a Catholic Mass, because if you did you would know it is all Scriptural.
I believe, nearly 80% of the Old and New Testaments are read at daily Mass over a period of three years. This is a hold-over from the first centuries when no one had any bible at all so whatever they know they heard in Church.
I wouldn’t know since I have never been to a protestant service, however, I have been told by protestants that there is more Scripture in a Catholic Mass than they hear from their preacher or pastor on any given Sunday.
Now if you actually go to a Church on the Lords day, your particular mileage may vary.
