When First Baptist's Robert Jeffress proclaimed a couple of weeks back that President Obama is "paving the way for the antichrist," we dismissed it as a publicity stunt designed to sell copies of his new book on the end times.
Not everyone was so quick to call Jeffress' claim empty bombast. Take this Christian Post piece from over the weekend in which a reporter, apparently keeping a straight face, asks two Baptist biblical scholars -- or rather as the headline suggests "experts" on the Obama-antichrist link -- to weigh in on the controversy.
Darrell Bock, a professor at Dallas Theological Seminary, offers a slight rebuke to Jeffress, saying that while "believers are to keep watch and be alert" for the second coming of Christ and all that will entail, the timing is unknowable.
He points out that the U.S. is mentioned nowhere in the Bible and that previous attempts to prophesy the end times have, well, failed.
The second expert, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary president Paige Patterson, is less cautious. Though he tells the Christian Post that "Identifying specific politicians with the antichrist of the last days is clearly absurd," Jeffress is generally on point.
"The rapid expansion of the powers of government and the growing dependency on the welfare state set the stage for the antichrist, since that is precisely what he is forecast to do," he says. "Dr. Jeffress is not personally attacking President Obama. He is simply attempting to explain to his people what is to happen next."
Indeed, his reference to a specific political figure aside, Jeffress' is bread-and-butter Baptism. Here's what the Southern Baptist Convention has in its statement of faith under the heading "Last Things":
God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth; the dead will be raised; and Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord.
There are competing interpretations of how that will come to pass, but no one can say for certain that Obama isn't paving the way for the antichrist.
hal lindsey’s book, the late great planet earth, may have been written 5o years too early.
Those who helped Obama in any way should pay the consequences.
Indeed, everything Obama is doing is paving the way for a system whereby you must have the government stamp of approval to participate. And the populace are gradually being whipped into submission.
Along with the political powers that are being erected to implement the new world order is the evolving religious system that will support it. A system where devout Christians need not apply, and in fact must get their minds right if they wish to continue to buy and sell. A religious system where if you can't openly celebrate homosexuality, then you will be required to wear an armband.
BFL- great thread- insightful comments/questions
Thinking we can turn things around and stop it is also an exercise in futility which diverts us from carrying the Word.
Rev 13:17 talks about being unable to buy or sell without the mark of the beast. I have often imagined that the “mark” is actually where a microchip has been implanted in the forehead which connects to your bank balance. The check-out technology scans the UPC code on the product then scans the chip on the forehead to withdraw the funds. It will be sold to us as safe, secure and unable to be hijacked by identity thieves.
The technology for this already exists. All that’s needed to implement this is someone powerful enough and evil enough to compel it on all the citizenry. Obama, in his quest for government-run health care (already in place in much of Europe and many other parts of the world) , is establishing a government-run system in which citizens are compelled to do business with the government which controls the banking system.
The foundation is being laid and, intentionally or not, Obama is part of this movement to make government all-powerful enough to control whether we can buy or sell in the marketplace. There will probably be more Obamas in the future, interspersed with a few kindly populists who will diffuse the big picture, but the march toward worldwide government tyranny is on the way and nobody can stop it - nobody from this realm, that is.
Recently BAHBAWA WAWA made the statement "We thought he was the next messiah". They WANTED him to be. They were hoping and praying (to their false god) that he was. Zero will destroy the US and drag the rest of the world with. The whole world is a house of cards ready to collapse. When it goes it will be big. With all the "hope" in a messiah that Jug Ears brought, his failure will just pave the way for the AC to come on the seen. SURELY, if The Won can't save us, then when AC arrives on the seen, he will REALLY make the masses swoon.
And the problems in the world?...All caused by those "deniers", the Christians and Jews.
If you're on any public forums, you can begin to see how Christians are beginning to be hated.
Anti-Semitism is RAPIDLY rising also.
This whole ME peace thing is a joke, except Israel is being made into the "punch" line. We are being told and conditioned that if the talks fail, Israel is at fault. Nobody knows whats going on behind the doors, all we hear is Lurch's comments, planting the seeds that Israel is being unreasonable.
No man knows the day or the hour, just like Christ's first coming. But the wise men knew the times and were watching expectantly. Today, many are watching expectantly.
The only exercise we can do, that’s NOT futility, is telling others about Christ. The Bible tells us that the Word must go unto all the world and when the full number comes in, THEN Christ comes. None of us knows that number. Only God the Father. But we are to be praying and looking for Gods kingdom. Actively participating in bringing it here.
That's probably the REAL job of Bluffdale. Not to just track peoples phone calls, but to track their every movement. Their comings and goings, every financial transaction, every association.

1Th 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
1Th 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
1Th 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
1Th 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
Obama isn’t the Anti-Christ: He doesn’t have the work-ethic required.
Could Tim Tebow have gotten wind of this stuff as to why he cancelled an appearance at Jeffers’ First Baptist Dallas about a year or so ago?
I know a professing Christian who thinks something like this would be just swell.
Amen to that.
Hal Lindsey made the mistake that many have and still do that a generation is 40 years. Its actually 70 years per scripture.
There is a Calvary Chapel pastor (JD Farag) in Kaneohe HI who does a Prophecy update every sunday as part of his sunday sermon. They put the updates up on Youtube every week, along with his other sermons. If you type in “JD Farag: Prophecy Update”, you’ll see his stuff. I discovered him las year and have been following along ever since. Some may find him a little hyped, but I think solid.
Or 100yrs... there is the question of generation overlap too. I think it has more to do with “knowing the times” than the exact time anyway. What should be taken away is that we are close, very close... Look UP!
Heh,heh...
There are two books, each written over 100 years ago that lend incredible credence to this type of thinking. Im not suggesting for a second that I subscribe to the truth of any this, but believe me, when you read either one of these books youll sit straight up in your chair.
The smaller book (a novella) is entitled Tale of the Antichrist by Vladimir Solovyev; while the other book is called Lord of the World, by Robert Hugh Benson.
Both books talk about the same topic, the end of the world. And the focus of both books is the appearance and activities of the antichrist. The Solovyev book is timeless in its setting, but the Benson book is futuristic. Although it was written over 100 years ago it appears to be set in these current times. The writer seemed to have anticipated much of what we see going on today.
But what is incredibly remarkable, no frightening, actually frightening, is the fact that in both books one could not have described a character more like Barack Obama than each of these men have done. It is truly unreal.
Although Amazon sells them both, Im almost certain they are free downloads online.
For your information, Solovyev was apparently a Russian Orthodox Christian, while Robert Hugh Benson (although the son of the Archbishop of Canterbury) converted to Catholicism and became a Roman Catholic priest.
