"If a teaching isnt explicit in the Bible, then we dont accept it as doctrine!" That belief, commonly known as sola scriptura, was a central component of all I believed as a Protestant. This bedrock Protestant teaching claims that Scripture alone is the sole rule of faith and morals for Christians. Diving deeper into its meaning to defend my Protestant faith against Catholicism about twenty years ago, I found that there was no uniform understanding of this teaching among Protestant pastors and no book I could read to get a better understanding of it.
What role does tradition play? How explicit does something have to be in Scripture before it can be called doctrine? Does Scripture tell us what is absolutely essential for us to believe as Christians? How can we determine the canon using sola scriptura? All these questions and more pointed to the central question: Where is sola scriptura itself taught in the Bible?

Did you read that before you posted it? I think I’m beginning to understand why you follow Mormonism.
They had to leave for fear they might eat from the Tree of Life also and would have remain there forever and none of us would be here today if that has not happen.
Genesis 3
22 ¶And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life
What does that mean to you when the God said they have become one of US?
BTW who is US?
Their bodies were flesh and blood both before and after they sinned.
>>>We were told there would come a falling away so we may be right on track.<<<
The first “falling away” occurred prior to A.D. 70 when some early Christians apostatized. John and Paul spoke about them.
Dispensationalism, that came on the scene about 150 years ago, is the modern day equivalent. Its most egregious non-biblical doctrine is that the Great Commission no longer applies to Jews.
Philip
Reminds me of THE MAN WITH TWO BRAINS in which Steve Martin asks his dead wife for a sign not to marry the girl he wants.
The the paintings spin, th words NO NO NO are heard, every thing shakes and shivers, the settles down.
Martin then says: any sign will do. Anything!
I’m also reminded of an old Woody Woodpecker cartoon in which he is given various eye tests, but the letters always read...ICANNOTSEEATHING.
Not that they would become gods my dear like Im guessing you believe. That would be contrary to the rest of scripture.
Of course it did Philip. Run along now an go play with someone else. K?

did you miss something CB?
Was Adam flesh and blood prior to sinning? CB
NO!
Adam was not Flesh and Blood before the transgression, Adam was Flesh and Bone as stated in Gen 2...
Genesis 2
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
>>>Then don’t write things that will be accepted for EXACTLY what they state.<<<
That is a pretty high standard to place on an old retired guy.
LOL!
Philip
****
No they were not flesh and blood there was no blood in Gen 2:23 mention.
>>>Of course it did Philip. Run along now an go play with someone else. K?<<<
I think I will hang around and see if you, again, pick up your ball and run home, like you did last time. I know we are near that point where you have exhausted the few scriptures you are comfortable with, and have to resort to your typical snide remarks and aspersions to misdirect the conversation.
Philip
ROFLOL!!! Thats why I said I now understand why you follow Mormonism. No blood ey? When did they get the blood?
Not that they would become gods my dear like Im guessing you believe. That would be contrary to the rest of scripture.

Sorry I should have drawn a map forgot this generation does not connect dots...
I met, BTW "who is US" I was referring to those that God was speaking too!
Genesis 3
22 ¶And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of US, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever
the man is become "as one of US,"
I told you to give up!
I simply adhere to what scripture says to do Philip.
Matthew 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
You did NOT 'know' this by reading the BIBLE!
>>>What does that mean to you when the God said they have become one of US?<<<
It says in verse 22, “...to know good and evil.”
Philip
>>>I simply adhere to what scripture says to do Philip.<<<
>>>Matthew 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.<<<
I’ll bet you do that a lot.
You GOT 'revelation' about plural marriage, and then threw it under the bus!
You GOT 'revelation' about BLACKS, and then threw it under the bus as well!
'Every wind of doctrine' sure describes your chosen religion!
>>Adam was Flesh and Bone as stated in Gen 2...<<
ROFLOL!!! Thats why I said I now understand why you follow Mormonism. No blood ey? When did they get the blood?

After they left the Garden aka Terrestrial Kingdom they enter into the world aka Telestial kingdom.
BTW there is no need for Blood in the Terrestrial Kingdom
no one dies in the Terrestrial Kingdom people die in the Telestial kingdom the one we live in.
